Hi Fantastic looking car.Had 3 of them in South Africa.Been living in the U.K for 12 years and today after all these years, the proud owner of a Mk5 XR6.With the South African economy down the toilet it was a impulsive, but at the right time to buy. Was just wondering which shipping agents you used and maybe a few pointers. Was looking for a roll on roll off service to keep cost at an absolute minimum. Thank you,and enjoy that Essex rumble.

Hi Got a standard essex v6 bottom end just lying in my garage.Bought it from a forum member who said it was in good running order, had plans to drop it in a cortina and started taking it apart to modify it.You can have the block, crank, pistons conrods etc all still intact for £30.Never seen it running, but it turns by hand, and the sleeves still look spot on.I live in Lincoln.

Thanks for all the replies! Some really good advice, and some nice cars that has been built by slotting a v6 into a Tina. -
Hi all! Introduction wise I am from South Africa and made a home for myself in the east midlands for the past 6 years.I have owned Mk3 and Mk4 Cortinas all my life, all with v6 essex engines fitted as standard. At the moment I own a 4wd Nissan Skyline which I use for drag racing. But I miss the . puckering rear end thrill of a lively V6 Cortina.I purchased a Essex V6 and spend my time 24 hours a day on e-bay collecting bits! Now the big question is,is there anybody out there drifting their Cortina? Some might think it's a crime but it cant be worse than rally or banger racing it!Besides 4 door rwd vechiles are very big in the drift world these days.! I'm in the process of rebuilding the V6 to a bullet proof spec, and then to purchase a Mk 4/5 Cortina and slot the engine in.Will a Cortina with 2 litre pinto(Crusader) gearbox, and the diff be able to cope with the torque?I got a v6 bell housing, and will it fit the 2 litre pinto gearbox?Money is also tight and a LSD would be a luxury.I was thinking of carbon freezing the running gear, and then welding the diff.Any tips or info in this regard will be greately greately apreciated.Diff ratios, type of gearbox, tires, oil, plugs, wheel diamiter.etc. CHEERS!!!!
