  1. Nope not abandoned - considered selling for a while but would of regretted . Granadas not to bad only £30 a week fuel though I don't work far from home
  2. I have tried the joining of the cables - also bought another car and swapped everything from one to the other There are a few things I'm going to try inc Petes suggestion re fuel pump mount Thing is since Iv started using the Granada I have realised Iv been getting it wrong all these years - instead of having car of the road for years converting and making it go faster it's a lot better driving an old arm chair and driving like miss daisy
  3. 20 months since I updated Done nothing with it till last weekend Got it ready for mot and today it past Subaru specialist told me try fitting a newer bigger intercooler which Iv done and still got the fault There are a few thing I need to test and going to look to front mount the intercooler this year I'm sick of having old fords but not driving an old ford So I bought a Granada and used as my daily for the last 8 months - I'm not doing anything to it apart from enjoy it my escorts also taken a back seat but hopefully push on this year Took opertunity today to take some photos
  4. Mine when it was 1st rebuilt - will be back on the road Asian next month
  5. Thanks for the advice and comments I will give it a try and let you know how it goes Thanks
  6. Thanks for advice - iwill check and let you know the type I'm sure that's where I will end up at rolling road - I was hoping swapping all parts from 1 car to another would sort as I didn't want to have a rolling road check find a stupid easy fault ....
  7. Hello mike I'm welcoming any advice and nothing is undermining Iv got in to late tonight to mess on but will unplug and try it on my way to work tomorrow and update Thanks
  8. It's great alright............I hate fault codes ......
  9. I welcome any advice - I have previously checked pipes and valves for leaks but will look further in to it - the ere are no no noises and the boost is steady and good. The bit I can't get my head around is it runs perfect at idle. Normal driving and heavy driving upto 4k and then after 4.5k revs .
  10. Well tonight it all started well I removed the lambda from the cortina and instantly I knew there was a fault with it as the inside had broken down and rattled away with lots of small parts of metal inside. I'm so lucky the outer casing did not fail as it would have been pulled straight into the turbo..... I then removed the lambda from the Subaru and this one was solid with no rattles. I was convinced this was it sorted .. Fitted then test drive and all was well - them after several mile same old fault....... I tried the fault code light which showed Idle air control valve and knock sensor faults I swapped the idle air control valve 1st thinking the knock sensor is only showing due to the miss fire. Still no better I then changed the knock sensor which still didnot rectfie. I then checked the fault codes and the same 2faults are listed. Very confusing as the car I'm removing all the parts from has no faults and runs well . Iv left the battery leads connected to clear the ecu memory and will try it again tomorrow I'm running out of ideas now !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Just what I needed - something simple I'd never thought of pointing out to me - I'll give it a go tomorrow night.... Thanks
  12. Thanks a lot - I'm hopeing my escort will be even better. I learned a lot building my cortina. I started the build on turbo sport if anyone's interested Thanks
  13. Thanks a lot for that. I read through it all myself last week to remind my self what I went through as I'm just starting a new project - converting my mk2 escort 2wd cosworth to 4wd. Iv forgotten how much hard work it was and I think I'm mad starting again ...... Thanks
  14. Might end up that way !!!!!!still can't sort it.....
  15. I'm still using my car regular when ever the weather suits. I'm loving driving this other than the misfire /splutter It seems to be around 4000-4500 revs When you drive normal the fault is not there it's when you put your foot down heavey What iv noticed now is if you drive hard after the initial splutter if you keep the revs up high it does not do it again through the gears. The car is quite fast and sounds fantastic. To try and solve the problem iv bought another Subaru. This hast he same engine layout ancillaries and in the same year do everything should swap over. Iv now started swapping parts from 1 to the other hoping to find what is causing the fault... 1st was the ecu which had been chipped. Iv got the paperwork to show it was done, the chip has been swapped and the casing was security tapped for Warrenty. This is the chip from the wagon And this is the chip in mine which is just a clean up chip to suit our petrol. After swapping them there was no differance to my car or the wagon. Next the MAF still no differance... So I'm no further forward yet - next will be coil packs then going to start with sensors - not sure after that
  16. Not much of an update Iv been using my car as much as possible lately. It's still got a hesitation/dead spot/misfire problem when engine hot from driving hard. I spoke to subaru specialist who suggested replacing coil packs 1st then getting it into him if no better- so Ithats next to do. Yesterday I got my mk2 escort out for 1st time since 2011 Stuck a battery on turned it over till oil pressure was up then connected coil- it fired up straight away. Took some photos next to cortina and my mates mk4 After driving around in my escort for over an hour My body remembered how hard work it was and uncomfortable then jumped into the comfort of my cortina which was a relief
