  1. There are people who collect this sort of info and compile the information. I used to have a P6 Rover and knew guy in Germany who had info on hundreds if not thousands of of them. You're right to be wary though.

Oh well, FGW is on her way to her new owner. Thanks to all who showed an interest, - just sorry I couldn't make everyone happy. Cheers Dale

About 10 minutes Jim. The successful person only mentioned the banger racing in response to 74 Cortina's post. I think he is genuine about wanting to resurrect her - I'd be really upset if she was banger raced!

The prospective new owner of FGW has just PM'd me this: "You can put everyones mind at rest on the forum and let them know it has not gone to a racer, its gone to a cortina loving good home and will definately hit the roads again soon." I'll leave them to reveal who they are if they want to... Ta

Have had a couple of responses already. Will post again if it all falls through, but for now it looks like it has gone. Thanks! Dale
  6. Hi All, I have a 1979 2.0 GL languishing in my garage that is available for free to anyone who is able to collect it from Sutton in Surrey. It has been there under SORN for the last six years, so it will need a low loader or some sort of A frame to tow it away. It is highly unlikely that it will go anywhere under its own power and of course it has no tax or MOT. The body work is in pretty good shape with very little sign of rust anywhere as the car was ziebarted from new. It has only done 45000 miles so provided it hasn't seized, the engine should be OK and so should the running gear. The dashboard and door trims are pretty mouldy but may be salvageable. The seats have some mildew in them but I think they will clean up OK. (The front seats have covers on - underneath they are chocolate brown like the back ones.) I would have thought it should make a fairly straightforward restoration project - I think most of it could be solved with an overhaul and a clean. If not it would certainly make a good source of spares for another car. I'd prefer someone to restore it, but that will be the decision of whoever takes it. If I've managed to do it right there are some links to some photos below... I feel terrible for letting it get to this as it was a lovely car, but life moves on plans to resurrect it kept getting put back. You know how it is - you need time, money and the inclination and I always seem to lack enough of the first two. Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Cheers! Dale
