How do the dash back lights work on a pre-facelift mk3 Cortina? Are they meant to just come on with the headlights? All bulbs checked, just can't figure it out, cheers

Hi, Does anyone have the corner shaped brackets for the inside front part of the seat rails (for a mk3/4/5)? It's the bit that bolts to the floor pan and creates a "shelf" for the rail to lie across and bolt to. It's the passenger (left) side one I desperately need, but could do with both. Cheers Rich

Hi all, as my car gets closer to being back on the road I thought I'd better get some spare keys as I only have 1x ignition, 1 x door /boot and 1 x petrol cap. I popped into Timpson and out of the three, only the petrol cap one worked. I've been back 3 times since and they've ordered in several different types of blanks but still the ignition and door keys don't work. I'm guessing that my originals are old and worn, is there anything I can try apart from replacing ignition barrels / door and boot locks? Are there any classic car key specialists in the UK? Thanks in advance.

Evening all, After many months of trying to decide on whether to put my 2000E in for some body repairs and re-spray, or sell her on, I finally decided to get the work done. She's very nearly complete and may be ready to collect this week; I've never had a car re-painted before, so I'd be really grateful for any advice on how to maintain the fresh paint. After all, given what it's costing me, the last thing I need is for things like white rain spots etc to appear in the fresh sunset red paint. What do you normally do with newly painted cars? I realise a good coat of wax polish is recommended, but how soon is it safe to wash the car and apply this please? The car is kept in my house's integral garage which has a decent air flow through gaps around the up and over door, but it gets hot in there on days like today and obviously cold during the winter. I had been using a Metex breathable car cover, but someone suggested covers shouldn't be used on fresh paint. I'm told by the classic body shop I'm using that they use a good quality lacquer and will apply an initial coat of wax polish. They seem to be a decent outfit, having previously all been employed by a well known classic Jaguar restorer in Bridgnorth before setting up on their own, so I'm hopeful of a good job. Any suggestions please? Many thanks.

Hello, I've not posted in a while what with house move, renovation and children, hence no work being done on the Cortina. Slowly though I'm trying to get my hand back in and one of the things i've been thinking about for a long time is a Brake system upgrage. What i'd like are discs all round with possibly an upgrade to the master cylinder as well and maybe along with that a servo will naturally be changed too? But with discs on the rear I wonder if there are any problems hooking up the handbrake cable? If anyone has any experience changing their brakes in this way id appreciate any help and advice. I like the look of some of the kits on Burtonpower but none of them mention the handbrake issue or whether they're compatible with the original Master Cylinder (which by the way is my THIRD one!). Thank you!

Hi everyone. I have just listed my MK3 Ford Cortina on eBay. This is a 1976 model and has had a lot of work and money spent to give it a new lease of life. It started off life as a 1300 Base model, but last year I have had a new standard 1600 GT engine professionally built and fitted along with a reconditioned type 9 five speed gearbox. I have also carried out a lot of work on the exterior and interior to make this lovely car almost as good as new. Hi Folks, I am looking to sort for once and for all the starting/running issue with Mk mk3 cortinas, I have the same problem/symptoms with both cars. They do not start very well or if started don't run well at all ! with the current electronic system that replaced the points. I am told that an electronic system from a sierra would be a good reliable option which I am open to fitting. I am looking to know if anyone have this system already installed and if so what it entail to install such a system. Is it a straight swap for the current timing system, and is there a wiring module required for this system also. I am hoping it is straight forward uncomplicated installation that I could tackle myself. Thanks for any help on this. Denis.

Hi don't suppose anyone has seats to fit a mk3 front and rear, in black, in fairly decent condition. Don't mind what sort, standard, early, late, anything realy...Idealy local or not to far away, I'm in Hertfordshire. Thanks

Sold my mk3 so no need for this spare wing I had. Drivers side - has Ford sticker on it. Some slight surface rust from storage. Never fitted to a car.

Hi, so some idiot who owned my mk3 previously has chopped up the parcel shelf to fit up speakers, and I'm assuming the wires must have got in his way, so all the spring setup for the boot hinges has been removed. Don't suppose anyone could sort me out here? Thanks
