Chamba 0 Posted July 2, 2006 Does Paul know the car? No, he's only seen the photos that you saw. I've only seen him a few times as he's mates with one of my old friends.

Chamba 0 Posted July 9, 2006 It's the car's last day on eBay tomorrow guys! (Auction ends Monday 9th, 20:45). I want it to go to a good home, no to some tyre kicking idiot! I've already had one fickle muppet bid then retract it and you should hear some of the questions I have been asked..... Selling a car definitely is more stressful than moving house ;) If any of you guys are thinking of bidding, then GOOD LUCK! eBay Advert
GJ2 0 Posted July 9, 2006 If it does not meet the reserve, you can always offer it to the top bidder.
H Cortina 14 Posted July 9, 2006 (edited) QUOTE Chamba "you should hear some of the questions" Yes i know the feeling. Chamba 0 Posted July 10, 2006 Thanks for the kind words guys  Looks like it's going to a good home after all. I had a few nutters call up asking really stupid questions and one guy from Ireland telling me how he'd pay for it in cash which he'd send by post (was he for real??!). The chap who's bought it sounds like a good guy and is going to use it for shows - Pete from East Yorkshire if that rings any bells? He's going to drive it the 270 miles back home too... ... he's a braver man than me!

Dave A 17 Posted July 11, 2006 Not to change the topic here but reminds me of the longest trek I have made in a Cortina and that was in Jan 82 when I moved from Sussex N.B. to Edmonton Ab. (Canada) went through heavy snowstorms in Ontario to minus 35 on the flat praries. Had lots of weight in the car with all my tools and everything i owned in there (which wasn't much) Two of us drove non stop and covered the 3000 miles in 3 days without a hitch. Part of the reason for driving non-stop was that i didn't dare shut her off in those temperatures for fear of never getting her started...already knew how cranky she was back home at minus 20f. On the coldest night had the radiator totally blocked with cardboard just so the temp guage would read and could stay warm...side windows were totally frosted over. the next day afternoon sun warmed up to minus 28F cruising at about 70 (about a million revs) looked over and the temp guage was in the red...told buddy to pull over quickly, yanked the cardboard out and told him to get her going...never seen a reading drop so quick! All in all it ended well but won't be stupid enough to do it again in the winter again unless i had to. At some point in time i will be doing at least one trip across there in a Cortina....hopefully during summer tho. Hope i didn;t tell this story before on here
