tmrancho2 0 Posted November 24, 2008 I've not even done a 1000 miles since the rebuild and I had to go up and see Tony (83GLS) so I thought I know I'll take the Cortina as Tony has not seen it since I finished it and it was a nice sunny day in Hastings so of I set early this morning and it rained on the way, it's the first time it's been out in the rain since the rebuild  it rained all the time at Tony's, left there and got back to Hastings and got greeted by the sunshine again, so I've been out all afternoon washing it. It's now safely back in it's garage. :afro: Tony has some pictures to prove it was actually out in the rain. :afro:

83-GLS 2 Posted November 24, 2008 Here is the proof that Martin drove his car in the rain. I had never seen the car in its finished state and it is a credit to the time and effort that Martin put in :winner:

tmrancho2 0 Posted January 11, 2009 Just been up the garage where this lesser spotted Cortina is hibernating with a freshly charged battery, as that is what I thought the problem was last week when it wouldn't start, put battery on still the same as last week very slow turn over, put the battery on the P100 started that up no problem, put P100 battery on the Cortina still not go! It would appear that my new 'LUCAS' starter motor is fooked. I don't think I'll be able to take that back under warranty, it's only been on since May last year.
littlenewt2067 33 Posted January 11, 2009 Glad to still you are still playing with it Martin!!

tmrancho2 0 Posted January 11, 2009 Bugger :tears: Still look on the bright side  i had to change a Saab 9000 starter motor today, how i longed to doing the same job on a cortina B) even a V6 would have been easyer  How long before fitting did you buy it ? have you checked and cleaned the earth and live connections :car: Yes at least it's easy to get at. It went on straight away Rob because I had pinched the Cortina one for the P100 at the time, I had a quick look at connections today and they looked OK I'll have another look next weekend. CortinaCat 1 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) Ive got mine laid up for the winter in a garage. I'm not sure it does them any favours. Sure its good to be out of the weather but starting her takes four or five attempts. Once running she's happy. TBH next year I don't think I'll garage her. tmrancho2 0 Posted February 17, 2009 Finally got the starter motor around to my mates for repair, he took it apart and was disgusted at the state of the armature for a recon unit which is causing the problem so he ordered me a new one, should be here tomorrow.
