Hi Martin,ime a new member& just come acrossed all your posts on your cortina,i must say your an inspiration

to us all,quite frankly if i had uncovered all that corrosion i would have thrown in the towl,you must have

slept,eate cortina for the last seven years..the job you have done is a credit to you....Chris

 

 

Thanks for the comments Chris, I wasn't on it constant for the 7 years but was always at the back of the mind. It's just nice to finally have it 'at home' so to speak.

when i saw your estate side on with all the sill work going on, i thouhgt i was looking at my own car, so similar rot pattern, your tubs were worse than mine, but you wanna see my bulkhead and boot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

 

great, lovely estate car, i ran six or seven in my teens and early 20s, all estates, ghias, gls and ls, sorry to say i also banger raced a few estates :-(

Thanks for that, a book would be a good idea there have been some amazing restorations on here, your current one is certainly one of them, I am watching your every weld, I wish I had been able to make video's of mine like you have done, I think that's brilliant! Maybe I should do one of my current restoration. (runs of to check and see if Santa delivered a video camera :rofl: ).

thnaks Martin, i bought a little PANASONIC HX DC10 PISTOL GRIP camcorder/camera. its really really good. £180

you can get a little mini tripod for a fiver, and you can twist the screen to face you so you can set the shot up if noone to film you, lets face it, who hangs around us when we are restoring rust bucket cortinas!!!!! :-)

 

so i reccommend. it has HD high definiton if you need it, basicaly picture looks a lot sharper and clearer on the newer tvs flatscreens/yout tube etc.

 

it has a neat little camera too, and a one touch to set all button, basically fully auto mode. best thing i ever bought other than my welder!

congrats , low engine oil ? thats a new one on me !!

 

yes just checked and hes made that one up!

 

her is the full list of whats testable and nothing about engine oil levels!!

 

"Under bonnet checks

Master cylinder and servo unit are checked for leaks with the engine on and the brakes applied

Servo unit will be checked to ensure it is operating correctly

Visible metal or flexible brake pipes will be checked for corrosion, condition, fouling or leaks

"

I know Dave, that's what I thought, never knew they checked your oil for MOT, but I wasn't going to argue as I got a pass. :thumbup:

check my edit above - they shouldnt its not on the list - none of his business how much oil you have in :smashcomp:

 

mind you he could have failed you for the bearing I think

Yes I agree, but he also adjusted a headlight, tightened the upper rear arm bolts (Oops), and adjusted a washer jet, all in the process of carrying out the MOT, so no complaints here.

just another example of being helpful then but there was no need to put it on the test certificate

Sounds to me that the guy doing the extra bit to keep his customers help ,rare quality nowdays
