I had the engine out of my morris minor to paint it, got the special engine paint spent ages degreasing and cleaning it really looked the part when it was done, but i was bit dissapointed because it started to flake shortly after it was running in the car again, dont no what i did wrong but if anyone out theres had better results be good 2 hear how they went about it because the cortina could do with the block painting and wouldnt want to go to all the effort of removing it for the same to happen again

Have to agree. Smoothright is the way to go.

Even Dulux gloss (on with a brush) works as the block should only get to about 110 deg C, I used it without primer on my block and it's still there years later, huge range of colours too

after youve degreased it and stripped it you need to scotchbrite it or 500 disc it to key the surface for paint. if you dont it may peel off. etch prime any bare metal bits, and yes you can lacquer it.
