consul315 180 Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) i remember buying one for my mustang and it fitted like a glove perhaps the americans take more pride in what they sell! maybe because in Mustangs is more interest of the mass, on the other hand it´s boring if you can buy all from the parts catalogue! i ve been once to the EKT company itself to collect a preordered LHD carpet for a MK1 Cortina and could nt complain about the service, i remember the guy to be very friendly and helpful, but maybe staff has changed since :D the carpet is still resting in the loft since :sofa: and i ve never trial fitted it, hope i don t get a bad surprise the day i ll use it :D ! i have ordered some door seals from EKT for an Anglia 105 in the early nineties and they were crap as well - you could only shut the door when slamming it and had to open the window a bit to prevent one of the screens coming out (quite a common problem on VW Beetles as well ). good luck for finding better rubbers and please kepp us informed how they fit! Edited December 1, 2009 by consul315
the-ford-cortina.com 226 Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) How much was the headlining and what material is it ? can't remember price (£100ish, but no idea how "ish"). With the proper material not available, and not really wanting to go for the series II type, I went for the alternative he offered. I seem to remember him refering to it as "putty", but not sure if thats just in relation to the colour of it or an actual name. Colour is pretty close to the original type material though, and doesn't look at all out of place £143 on ebay or £99 off this chap Edited December 1, 2009 by the-ford-cortina.com
Steve E 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Anyone had WIndscreen Rubbers off them for MK2??? Are they any good or do we avoid like the plague???
H Cortina 14 Posted December 2, 2009 Anyone had WIndscreen Rubbers off them for MK2??? Are they any good or do we avoid like the plague??? There are two different size screen openings on a mk2, they only make one, no idea whether it fits series 1 or series 2. I bought one but opted to re-use my existing one so have never tried fitting it to a car. Not a very useful answer but the best i can come up with. Safer bet to spend a bit more & use the 1600E club I suppose Nothing worse than something that isn't right and then they . you about when you complain

G.O 19 Posted December 2, 2009 i opened the headlining and laid my old one top the new one is a lot bigger but all the seams line up so with a bit of triming it may fit. is the seams line up, then it should be just fine
G.O 19 Posted December 2, 2009 his screen rubbers are as good as his door rubbers  I did hear a while back that he'd sorted out front screen rubbers for the series IIs, and that they were pretty good. Not seen them myself, so cannot confirm..... BTW - am on the lookout for a decent series I screen rubber if anyone has one
tmrancho2 0 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) I think EKT get their windscreen rubbers from Baines, they list two types for the Mk2 in their (Baines's) catalogue. Edited December 2, 2009 by tmrancho2
Bangar 7 Posted December 8, 2009 I got my door rubbers from the 1600e club, and they are perfect, moulded on the corners and have the little clips all the way round and fit perfectly!
tc1 1 Posted December 9, 2009 Hi all. Just an update on the door seal situation. Just rang EKT to ask why i havent received a refund yet when they got them back on the 2nd and was told they hadn't got round to it yet! He said he was going to ring me and ask why i was the only one in the world who had complained about them and couldn't get them to fit.He told me they are better than the original ford ones and they sell hundreds a year with no complaints. He also told me they supply burtons and the ford 1600e owners club buy theirs from them as well so i would be wasting my time buying from them as they are the same ones. I don't know what to make of it all and its taking the fun out of restoring my cortina

MLI 8 Posted December 9, 2009 A mate of mine fitted an EKT screen rubber on his mk2 last year, I think their mk2 windscreen rubbers must have been improved/re-tooled, as this one had the proper moulded corners.

They are quite a bit cheaper than the club one's Its a worry though if they don't fit
