I took some more pics today as I get ready for the shot Blaster to come tomorrow weather permitting

I got him bargained down a bit and he can do in a morning what would take me 2/3 weeks of spare time!

 

It all started when I was going to replace my tool & spare wheel well I noticed a bit more rot and too much filler

 

So here goes brace yourselves

But it needs to be done then a full respray!!

What colour??

Blue Mink? Aubergine? or Lagoon Red (not sure if I want to stay red now but I want a period Ford Colour for a series 2)

all looks very do-able, but depends on how much time and money you want to invest

youve not gone too far, get all rot cut out if its metal it can be replaced, if the steel is thin and pinholes every where remove it, as it will bubble up in months, you might as well do this job once and you can rest assured that it will last for another 30 years

Good luck Steve. Is that a self portrait in the windscreen? Stick with the red. Suits the car and reminds me years and years ago when we found one that colour that had been dumped when out walking and my Dad taking the catch off the glove box for his cortina!

It becomes very daunting when things go further than planned but don't be put off or get worried, if its rotten it needs to be cut out and replaced. Like Lee said, if you're gonna do a job you may as well do it right first time.

It was Fern green originally :thumbup:

And the red it is now is BMW Imola Red :headscratch:

 

 

I will sort the Rot out but I'm keen on Blue Mink :unsure: did want silver Fox but my painter don't recommend it Can't remember why now

 

Is H cortina, GO & Redex Dragoon Red??? cos there's look good But Dan b's old mk2 looked brilliant

Always liked Aubergine too or Gold (any I haven't mentioned)

I am pretty lucky on the workshop front and My mate is a very good welder

I do all the grinding making taking but my welding usually goes of course Its the eyes you know & I've got 4 of them :headscratch:

Mine's Dragoon red but that's a series one colour only , also Corsair , Anglia and Mk1 , the series 2 red is called red 2 I think ?? A lot of people don't really like red but it grows on you , I love blue mink , black cherry and saluki bronze and most of the metallic colours but silver to me is a non colour , a bit too monotone and never looks any different in differing light conditions , but thats just my personal preference.

mine is Monaco Red, a MkI colour, Being a series I, Robs will be Dragoon, but Hs is a series II so that'll be Red 2

 

Fern Green is great, and not many around in that colour. Blue Mink and Aubergine also really suit an E, especially the darkness of the Aubergine against all the shiny trim bits

Black cherry is quite a rare colour but i would say aubergine is the best for showing the shiney bits off on a series 2 E .
