frankie2.8 13 Posted June 18, 2010 Whats with the yellow springs and shocks on the rear?? Do you have some beefed up suspension there? Looking forward to seeing this one done. If its half as good as the Huntsman it will be a lovely car!!! Frankie

If its half as good as the Huntsman it will be a lovely car!!! Frankie Hi mate. One day it may be quite nice - I'll do my best. Shox are spax(i think) adjustables and yellow. Chap who owned the car decided to paint the springs and calipers likewise. Don't think it will be staying that colour...debating taking them off, shot blasting and powder coating at some stage. As for beefed up no idea. Someone on here will know if the springs on an S car are different. Chap who owned it said it held the road like glue. frankie2.8 13 Posted June 18, 2010 I think the 'S' springs are different, bit firmer. Thicker rollbars etc. Agreed the yellow springs don't really work for me and I would imagine the yellow calipers would not either. Frankie

btboy 49 Posted July 28, 2010 Time flies by and car has been left for a bit as I've needed to sort myself out. Suffice to say I dropped the sub frame out this evening to carry on with the hammmerite removal and give myself a 'gee up'. Hopefully engine bay is not far off ready for painting. Now do i strip the inner wings and get them painted or stone chip them. Decisions, decisions
btboy 49 Posted August 3, 2010 I've now put in the old subframe Big Mike gave me to play with -yes I finally got the springs back in it whilst the subframe was off the car. Got the knack now! Car is now rolling on four wheels temporarily and is booked in to have the engine bay painted hopefully within the next couple of weeks. Look forward to getting this phase of the car done that so I can start making a bit of space in my shed again. Had no idea how much space a bonnet and a pair of wings would take up. I stripped the proper subframe yesterday evening although I'm leaving most of the bushes in situ as they are good. I've just dropped various bits of it off including the springs at a local firm to be shot blasted and then some will be powder coated whilst I get the rest to spray paint that still have rubber bits left in them. Engine mounts, lifting eyes, radiator brackets, petrol tank brackets and a few odds and sods have all gone with the subframe. As per the engine bay, these and the subframe etc are all coated with hand painted primer and hammerite, and quite honestly, I'm sick of the stuff. Will it ever end? I also dropped off my twin weber at the weber specialist on the same trading estate so that will be taken care of.
btboy 49 Posted August 5, 2010 That's another job done. Carb. back today. Stripped and rebuilt needing only a replacement choke diaphragm. Looking for a carello ford halogen nos headlamp. Have to check which side it is I need, but anyone got spares, please?
btboy 49 Posted August 11, 2010 Well I've gone as far as I can with the engine bay and front valance area. Just how much hammerite and primer I've got off defies belief. Certainly would have been easier to shot blast the whole thing but at least I've got to know the front end intimately! Toby has now been picked up (10/08/10) and awaiting the Spectrum Paintworx boys to paint the engine bay. Then it's back together time. A bit different now than when I first picked up the beast...Enjoy Ready for collection to the bodyshop for painting the engine bay and valance. Taken 10/08/10 Getting in these bits was a right pain Naked... All the best. Paul
fjkghia 1 Posted August 11, 2010 Coming on well Paul :headscratch: Keep up the good work, will be worth it in the end. Certainly takes dedication to go that far with the strip down.

stevewes 15 Posted August 11, 2010 Certainly re-defines the meaning of 'rolling restoration' - I think there's another minter in the making :headscratch:
