PROJECT SAXON!

Recommended Posts

Colin this is fantastic , have you thought of getting hold of ford and letting them know what your doing, they might have some archive material on this saxon, and may use it for some type of advertising, Got to be worth a phone call of email,

talking of advertising this is the best advert for your buisness as it showcases your unbelieveable skills and talents.

all the best Lee Bardini

Hi Colin, could I pick your brains regarding welding patch panels in door skins. I've welded many rotten door bottoms over the years and have always ended up with a degree of distortion, which really riles me. What 'tactics' do you employ to minimise this?

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave sorry took some time to come back 2 you but iv been away 4 a few days , best way is joggel the the main part of the door meaning put a step in it then keep spot welding it with the mig move around a lot bit here bit there until its all welded up , also keep it cool with a damp cloth as you go hope that helps Colin.

Cheers Colin for the advice, I must invest in one of those joggler tools before I attack another door skin as it's so frustrating when give it your best effort and things don't turn out the way you anticipated. In fact, I've got to do the bottoms of my Ford Prefect real soon, so I think I'll get one this coming week.

Oh by the way, absolutely loving this thread and can't wait to see some more progress pics.

Cheers

Dave

It's looking so damned good Colin, I can't wait to see it in primer. This car will no doubt create shedloads of interest, not just in old Ford circles, but the whole classic car fraternity - and rightfully so.
