brightorangeGT 1 Posted July 24, 2010 We were waiting at lights at a roundabout in Exeter when a mondeo went round and as the driver and passenger caught sight of our Cortina they began pointing and laughing. Unfortunately as we went around the roundabout we had to pull along side them at the next set of lights. Same thing, making fun, derogatory comments etc. Its been playing on my mind since - has anyone else experienced this? Or is it me just being too sensitive? Or is it just this rotten part of the country as its happened before. I dont know why people cant mind their own business and let others live their life doing the things they enjoy... .I guess some find it easy to make fun of someone or something thats either old or different......please reassure me someone!! FKLGLS 44 Posted July 24, 2010 The jokes on those d***heads. If these people weren't so ignorant, they would realise that the mondeo they are driving round in, is the cortina of today. In time, shall we laugh at them ? Morons................ I'll bet they didn't even know what your car is. - for- brains.
the-ford-cortina.com 226 Posted July 24, 2010 Only ever had the opposite reaction and often from young lads as well - even the 14-16yr old school kids who live near here admire our cars we overheard them discussing which was best , most went for the mk1 capri but one preferred the 1600E The yobs who abused you probably spend £50 on a tshirt because it is brand X and will NEVER amount to anything in their lives because they have no real apreciation of anything but the tosh force fed them by the mindless money grabbing media / big business sleb culture that is designed to keep them constantly wanting more over priced trash. If these people weren't so ignorant, they would realise that the mondeo they are driving round in, is the cortina of today. very much so mk5 cortina part numbers start 79BB , Mondeo 93BG THE B underlined denotes the Ford designated class of car CORTINA - SIERRA - MONDEO SO their mondeo is just a later mark of Cortina

Beowulf 87 Posted July 26, 2010 Round by me our MK3 is an american car, according to the local youths  Funny you say that, the local youngsters where I live thought my MKV was a muscle car, lmao. Not driven mine much but got some glances as if to say 'I used to have one of them'. Forget them I say, what a loutish kid thinks isn't important. Who was it said 'The old know most things, middle aged know some things, but kids know everything'
savagesam 0 Posted July 26, 2010 This is the exact reason i'm building my car to pull up nxt to chavs in their crappy little body kit cars and blow them away!!! Last week me and a mate were at a set of lights, in his mk1 escort (2.1 Pinto) when a group of lads in a citroen saxo pulled up pointing and laughing look at that old heap, hahaha they must be older than they look, among other abuse!!! Well jokes on them as they disappeared into the distance behind us we waited at the nxt set of lights where we simply gave them a sarcastic smile needless to say their attitude had changed and the silence was great... I'm fed up of young chavs driving like idiots in ther crap cars grow up, learn to drive, pull your trousers up, stop lying down while driving, take that stupid cap off, speak properly and have some bloody respect...!!!
