eddiebee 0 Posted August 2, 2010 I have used cellulose several times as a finish coat but would like to try two pack as I believe it is more durable. I am an amateur sprayer working partly outside and partly inside. Is it safe to use two pack without an air fed mask? What are the basic issues associated with two pack? Will I need to apply a final laquer or can it be buffed up? Thanks for any advice. Ed
Steve E 0 Posted August 2, 2010 It's not a good idea its poison!!!! often contain isocyanate This is a quote from another website Safety: 2 pack paint is not for DIY use - it can cause debilitating occupational asthma. I've used an air fed mask with appropriate air supply which can be had for under £500 Two pack can be mixed in a solid colour Metallic needs a base coat and then clear top coat Some people do some don't its down to risk management
Lotuscops 80 Posted August 2, 2010 If you value your lungs steer clear - it gets in there & sets like glue, feeling like someone is tightening a belt around you chest according to the experts. I heard of a young lad who stole some from work and painted his car in his garage and died as a result. So, give it the swerve.....

Steve E 0 Posted August 6, 2010 is it true that 2 pack can be painted on with no harm? Unfortunately not Water based is ok for the paint but it needs a top coat which is the same poison 2 pack stuff
Lotuscops 80 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) is it true that 2 pack can be painted on with no harm? Yes it's true; but only if you wear the proper protection equipment or are a robot. Edited August 7, 2010 by Keith Halstead

Jono74 0 Posted August 8, 2010 I have been using 2 pack on mine, but one pannel at a time, outside. Think I need to buy an air fed mask. Have been using an Abec canister face mask. I know so many people that don't bother if spraying outside.
John the painter 2 Posted August 8, 2010 Yes officially 2 K is for professionals , i spray cars for a living and it is bad for you. I dont use breathing apparatus so may not be arround for much longer but it is deffinatley reccomended. not as easy as cellouse to paint and not as forgiving .Take care when using can make some disasterous mistakes if you do not know what you are doing

COLIN RNK 2 Posted August 9, 2010 If you dont mind me putting my pennys worth in just use a carbon type filter mask it wont do you any harm the amount your doing ,esp outside just get on and do it , just one tip have the paint nice and thin your get runs if its 2 thick, when you here people say they got runs bec the paint was 2 thin thats not right 2 thick 2 much paint so it runs best way to measure it is when you mix the paint lift the stick out and start to count when the paint starts 2 drip stop counting base coat 4 to 5 sec clear and 2K 3 to 4 secs best of luck with it colin. Jono74 0 Posted August 9, 2010 I think spraying any kind of paint in confined space, 2K or celly is not good. Carbon mask should be used for either. Couldn't possibly fit in my garage with the car in it at the same time, so spraying outside. I'll just have to rub the flies out when it’s all finished
