RLH487W 0 Posted July 2, 2014 If already checked and boost stays steady maybe an injector is sticking or not opening all of the time and under fuelling .Point of interest is this the hitachi/Subaru injection system. If so check all the earths very carefully(previous experience).Obdviousley the best way to simulate fault and have diagnostic equipment available is a rolling road session but not cheap. Thanks for advice - iwill check and let you know the type I'm sure that's where I will end up at rolling road - I was hoping swapping all parts from 1 car to another would sort as I didn't want to have a rolling road check find a stupid easy fault .... Pete-H 69 Posted August 19, 2014 I have just read the thread from start to finish and I must say Bravo Sir what an achievement. As for your bad running at high loading and one thing I noticed which could cause the problem that you are having and if you go back to post #373 and you have hard mounted the fuel pump rather than mounting it on a rubber supported base, this would cause excessive vibration and air bubbles in the fuel this would give the symptoms that you have described. I have had the same effect/problem on a V12 XJS years ago. I hope that you get the problem sorted some how. Pete-H

GhiaMk4/5 207 Posted February 4, 2017 You can't beat a Granny, got a 2.8i Ghia X pack estate that I have owned for 25 years, it may only have 160bhp, but they go well, as I am sure you know, just crap on fuel, and the problem you are having with the mk5,frustrating, coil packs breaking down was always a common problem, also a mate had a Japanese import one and every 200 miles he would have to disconnect the battery and join the earth and positive together to remap it, would then drive brilliantly for 200 miles and then repeat same procedure, never did get to the bottom of it. I have tried the joining of the cables - also bought another car and swapped everything from one to the other There are a few things I'm going to try inc Petes suggestion re fuel pump mount Thing is since Iv started using the Granada I have realised Iv been getting it wrong all these years - instead of having car of the road for years converting and making it go faster it's a lot better driving an old arm chair and driving like miss daisy
