Restoring sug Silver Fox 1600e.

Is it me or is it getting a bit chilly for messing about in a garage with no heating, i should know better but i dont

no pain no gain. I can only now fully understand how much time it takes to bare metal a car when using a sander and a grinder,

i did have the luxury of a small sandblaster for a short while to get into those awkard areas but my mate sold it :(

 

The underneath of the car is finished bar putting its final coat of silver fox paint on, most of my time the last few

weekends have been bare metaling the out side of the car, i'm positive my fingers are now shorter and lacking in prints :lol:

Thanks for the kind words, as we all like pictures i found a few more. Hopefully all the doors should be in etch :) this weekend

then i can concentrate on prepping the inside of the cortina.

If i was a little bit more organised you would get my pictures in the right order :blush: managed to find

some of when i worked on the underneath of the car before the work started on top so to speak, after taking

it to bare metal and getting some advice i por15 it first coat, great stuff this even thow not cheap goes on

by brush (which i did) or you can spray it on, and the finish is like it has been powder-coated when dry :thumbup:

then a couple of coats of etch primer, then plenty of stone chip :) , hopefully this will help preserve the

car a few years, any final coats of paint will be applied after i have done the final fit up B) B)

 

Do you think i used enough stone chip -_-

your car is identical to our even down to the colour silver fox we are just getting ready to paint the under side of ours but we have a problem with the sill and wheel arch how they meet , saw your pics , any chance of a close up pic of the inner sill and rear wheel arch . before you finish and take it of the spit, huddie has put a thread on this morning with the picture of what we mean its on body and paint take a look at ours on our sites .

just a short jaunt up the m61, and i have bought a few parts off the guy in the mill near you ;)

 

I'll be keping a close eye on your resto especially how the piant turnes out, are you painting the top coat

yourself? only asking because i plan on doing as much of the preperation work myself and then handing the car over

to someone who does it all the time and has the right work shop for it B) B)
