Door & Boot seals

Recommended Posts

Ok peeps.... another problem encountered.... got all my trims, tried fitting the boot seal last night, gave up after 2 hours... no matter which way i put the trim on the boot wouldnt shut, anyone else had the same problem??

On to the door seals, the ones supplied didnt have the push in clips fitted to them, after a call to Kent Trims he said glue it to the door. In my wisdom I have tried evostik but that doesnt work and was quite messy, I have resorted to using super glue but I know this wont last... I have only 1/2 done one door at the moment....

This is a genuine cry of help!!!

aye, try and take them back, and get told that he's never had anyone else complain about them

Goodness knows why EKT keeps on selling this rubbish when he knows full well none of it is any good. With the door seals, even if you do sucessfully manage to get them glued in place you'll find they are too thick so the door won't close nicely, and they won't clear the door catches either. I've never tried a boot seal from EKT, but I've had some very mixed feedback about his screen rubbers - for many years he point blank refused to believe there are in fact two types, though I understand his series II rubbers and now quite good

As for WKT headlining? Very hit and miss I'm afraid to say - the one I had had the stitching too far apart. In fact, so far apart that it couldn't be tensioned at all. He accused me of fitting it wrongly as they couldn't possibly have made it wrong. After much head stratching, and getting my Mum to restitch it, taking out between 5mm and 10mm out of every section we managed to get it to fit.

If I can help it, I'll not get anything from EKT ever again. Hir products don't fit, and his after sales service is even worse

well after reading the other replies and the other thread I think your best option is to take them back and tell them if they argue that under british consumer law you are entitled to a full refund as they are not "fit for purpose" if they dont refund you contact trading standards and tell them that the cortina owners clubs will verify that the goods you have bought do not fit what EKT claim they do.

I'm thinking thats the way forward, are the door seals each or for a set of 4??. could you link me to the club so I can join up plz.

Door rubbers are no good, spent about 2 hours sticking them on and now I cant shut the door. looking at the rest of the story's on this thread I think I have wasted £400.

You are correct about the door seals, after a couple of hours fitting the passenger side front the door wont shut, subbers sre too tall and as you said doesnt clear the catch.

I just hope the screen rubbers and roof linings are all ok.

I feel a battle on my hands here....

Before I start on the roof lining is it worth trying to fit it or shall I send it back?

Does the 1600e club sell the roof lining? Is it any good? what price is it..
