Ive got roof lining and carpet from EKT, and i really hope they are ok as the door rubbers are litter. God knows what they fit but it sure as hell aint cortina.

To be fair i did send them back and after a long argument with the manager at ekt he did refund me only after telling me it was the car that was wrong not the rubber!!!!

Has anyone fitted a headlining from ekt?

Ebay aus mazda phil's rotary spares and the e club, the original and still the best. I dont mean to slag off east kent, but why they continue to market this crap for a mk2 cortina is beyond me.

(Rant over)hahaha

The roof lining that I fitted wasnt too bad. The trick I found was heat. The only windows I had in the car were the door windows, The front and rear screens have to be put in after the lining goes in (everyone knows that though). What I did to keep the heat in was cover the front and rear with a thick blanket, and get the fan heater in there.

Fit the roof lining, front to rear worked for me, leave the car warm up and use the bars to stretch then glue. I left the heater on all night. the lining is very tight, I have lost a couple of stitches but they can be sorted later.

Since the lining went in I have put in the front and rear screens. the front one was worse than the rear and did ruckle the lining a bit. I have fitted many screens in my time but I have never had to resort to hammer and wood to get them in. The rubbers were again from EKT which I think were made not to standard.

Anyway they are in and thats that.

Oh dear thats not lookin good how are EKT still in business

My problems were already detailed in this thread:

aye, try and take them back, and get told that he's never had anyone else complain about them

Goodness knows why EKT keeps on selling this rubbish when he knows full well none of it is any good. With the door seals, even if you do sucessfully manage to get them glued in place you'll find they are too thick so the door won't close nicely, and they won't clear the door catches either. I've never tried a boot seal from EKT, but I've had some very mixed feedback about his screen rubbers - for many years he point blank refused to believe there are in fact two types, though I understand his series II rubbers and now quite good

As for WKT headlining? Very hit and miss I'm afraid to say - the one I had had the stitching too far apart. In fact, so far apart that it couldn't be tensioned at all. He accused me of fitting it wrongly as they couldn't possibly have made it wrong. After much head stratching, and getting my Mum to restitch it, taking out between 5mm and 10mm out of every section we managed to get it to fit.

If I can help it, I'll not get anything from EKT ever again. His products don't fit, and his after sales service is even worse

But here are the pics of the headlining, before and after we restitched it

Thanks for reply Baz.

Also when you get the new rubbers, remove all the plastic pins from the rubbers, and put them in the pin holes around the doors first then hook the rubber on.To put the pins in the hole which are tee shaped i made tool 1" wide 6"long and appox 2mm thick put a slot in the end, then you slide the tee end on and hold it over the pin hole and hit the head of the pin.The reason you need the tool 2mm thick is you need to have a gap between the door frame and the pin head so you can hook the rubber back on,so what ever you do do not knock the pins in all the way. Hope it helps.

innit! I tried talking to them and just got the same old "but we've sold loads of them and no one else has ever complained" togethere with "We made our headlinings from an original Ford pattern so it can't possible be wrong", complete with "You must be fitting it wrong". Well I wasn't doing it wrong. There was so much slack that I had the front tensioner bar flat facing forwards, and the rear one flat facing backwards when that first pic was taken.

I had taken a few pics from different angles of the headlining like that, that I emailed to EKT. Their response was "sorry those pics don't really tell us anything". I can accept that mistakes can happen from time to time, but its what is done about those mistakes that counts. EKT would not accept any responsibility what so ever for that headlining being made wrong, so after I don't know how many phone calls I gave up and remade it ourselves. As I said, I shall never, ever, use EKT for anything again if I can possibly help it.

Trims went on great, Drivers door holes needed to be drilled to 5mm because the clips on that door some way were a different style.

Its all done right now and looks great, boot seal fitted as it should. All in all I would use the Aussie again.
