richard 2509 0 Posted April 17, 2011 Ive just returned from the depths of my shed and I have found that I own 6 windscreens. I presume they are all off Cortinas as I am not likely to collect other sorts, however I cant remember what cars they were off.2 are marked ford with codes M54 and M44, there is a M85 and a M97, a heated rearscreen marked ford, and finally a front that a friend of mine couldnt get to fit in his mk5 saloon so we presume its off a mk5 estate. Can any kind person tell me if the codes mentioned actually mean anything or give me a rough sizing guide to Cortina screens. If I get no info from anyone on the codes then I will post up the sizes but it will only be rough, top to bottom and widthways about halfway up the screen. Thanks in advance

bortaf 94 Posted May 4, 2011 There's 2 sizes of Mk5 saloon screen, early and late, then there's the estate one (Mk4 size) and then the late high cap P100 screen which has had me scrathing me head a few times trying to get the bugger in, of the 2 saloon screens get the wronge screen with the wrong rubber and they either go in REAL easy but fall out first time you hit the brakes or just wont dam well go at all (bowt 5mm too big), i'll see whats in the garage, i dont think i have any Mk5 screens left but will check  According to the manual T or L denote toughend or laminated (located by the little badge lower left of screen) other than that it's not a lot of help

bortaf 94 Posted May 5, 2011 think all mk5 are laminated yeh i think they had to be by law by then, the factory manual aint allways that up too date, the Mk5 section still shows a headlight relay they dropped after the Mk3, thats why the haynes shows it cos the just copy'd some of the factory manual
