martog 140 Posted November 23, 2024 Thought I would have a play today. First thing was to fit a 2.0 badge above the S on a wing but this didn't happen due to no double sided badge tape. Even down at my friends place, and he's a bodywork guy! So it was have a play with those twin lights and try and do some mocking up. First job was to strip the front and give the area a good clean. Then have a mock up. I will need to cut some metal out of the front panel to clear the inner headlight and the whole plate with the lights fitted will fit flush on the car. This is the good bit, as when fitted they will be "in" the hole and I can then make up a grille to cover them and the outer grille will be made to follow the contours of the car. martog 140 Posted November 23, 2024 Something like this... Bear in mind I was on my own today so could only work on one side. Everything in the photo below is still sticky-outy, because I have not cut the front panel out yet. I didn't want to start cutting this out as my friend wasn't there today and I certainly didn't want any problems with grinding sparks.
martog 140 Posted November 23, 2024 That's as far as I got. I have another grille which was kindly donated by Craig (SCC), so it's a case of getting my head round chopping the grille about to make up the outer contour first then do the easy bit (mesh it) last. Thanks for looking.

martog 140 Posted November 24, 2024 Thanks for all the kind comments guys. Did a bit of WFH today. Bracket for the mirror switch bent up and the hole cut out. Glued a bit of thin cardboard to it then covered it with some vinyl. This will be painted black to match the underside of the dash as I'm fitting it under the ashtray because I can't really find anywhere else it could go. martog 140 Posted November 24, 2024 Also painted the 2.0 badge I got off Craig with rattle can Satin black. Painted the other one which I was going to fit yesterday by hand and it looks a bit naff, so will rattle can that one next week as it's with the car. More next week, work, weather, Earthquakes permitting!!!
martog 140 Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) So, antics from the last couple of Saturdays. I'll start with the badges first. Pegs were snipped off then rattle canned Satin black. Then a few hours were spent trying to get the position right for them on the wings and this took some doing to get them straight and level. Drivers side. Passenger side. martog 140 Posted December 17, 2024 Bear with me with the photos. Not sure if I'm posting twice?? Drivers side overall view. This is best I can do as there is quite a lot of stuff scattered about the place. Now a bit more on the headlights. Slam panel chopped away where it needed it and the plates trial fitted. Those backing plates are just flat metal and can go either way up though the diamond shape hole needs to be outermost as it makes provision for the sidelight holder. Plate on the N/S is right. Plate on the O/S needs spinning over but I was just mocking things up here.
