PFM1964 5 Posted June 1, 2011 don't use thinners, it might bleach the vinyl, did this myself years ago, was only a small bit of overspray right down buy the chrome trim on the C pillar, took the shine off the vinyl

PFM1964 5 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) cheers for the comments.it's been suggested also to try nail varnish remover any suggestions? i think you'll find that much the same as thinners, is there a lot of overspray, i have used something called Renovo in the past to clean vinyl in the past, that was a very good product, but you could try ringing your local paint factors or a spray shop and ask if they know whats best to use! another place you could try is a upholstery shop, if it will clean leather it sould clean vinyl, one the best vinyl cleaners i have used was a Vanish soap bar, bought up some dirty seats in one of my old cars a treat Edited June 3, 2011 by PFM1964

I,V FOUND THE SPRAY I WAS ON ABOUT..... ITS A VHT {VERY HOT TEMPERATURN} PRODUCT...I FOUND IT IN THE FROST MAG.... THEY DO ALL RESTO PRODUCTS....IF YOU LOOK IT UP IN THE FROST SITE THE ID CODE IS U460.... ITS A PENETRATING COLOUR DYE.... AS I SAID BEFORE... CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN THE ROOF FIRST WITH WASHING UP LIQUID WATER THEN DRY DRY DRY..... MASK OUT THE WHOLE CAR FROM THE ROOF DOWN...SPRAY INSIDE...NO DRAFTS..... I USED THREE CANS....IF YOUR ANY GOOD OR AVERAGE MOVER....LOL ...THEN EVEN SPRAYS ALL OVER....IT WORKS WELL AND LOOKS GOOD WITH A VINYL FINISH LOOK....

cortina 4 Posted June 9, 2011 A clay bar will take overspray off panels and glass, it may work on a vinyl roof. If it doesn't, you'll still be able to use it on the bodywork.
richard 2509 0 Posted June 9, 2011 try diluting thinners with water using a nail brush to get in all the nooks and crannies. try it on a small area first off and have a cloth soaked in water to wash off asap. if it leaves marks on the vinyl and wont clean up with a vinyl cleaner then you will have to repaint. i clean the black vinyl roof of my 1971 gxl with shoe polish and the nailbrush method.
