nogE 91 Posted June 9, 2011 after the trip to the yat the weekend i think i,m gonna change the polys and go back to gen ford rubber stuff...its just that through towns/quiet roads that had holes/bumps in them made the car feel too hard/solid......all suspensions standard...so alls well there....and the remember having a chat with IAN27 a while back and he was saying the same thing.... is there any opinions on this subject?... and i be looking to collect the bushes etc..... as i have a rear anti roll bar i,ll be needing bushes to suit... i,m trying to get me head around what i,ll need again.... bushes that is.... mk4 lower arm bushes etc..... dave...what arms do you have?.... may just shot blast/coat and fit new gen bushes in them and straight swap then....keep others for new pro???? Only my opinion but (here goes): 1. Have you thought of keeping the axle end Poly on the rear and going rubber on the front end of the rear axle arms (both top and bottom). Seems to be a popular option for a better ride and to minimise the issues that sometimes occur on the axle mountings on the body? 2. On the front stay with Poly on the front TCAs (standard bushes are rubbish) and on the subframe mountings. Never tried Poly anywhere else on the front. 3. Last piece of advice, having run both Hyundai and Ford rubber bushes on the rear axle upper arms - get the front bushes from a Stellar, they're much better than Ford ones. brightorangeGT 1 Posted June 23, 2011 I ve taken most of the poly bushes out of my mk5 and put rubber back in - in time when they need replacing I'll have a go at drilling holes in the poly ones and put them back in - deflex in my experience nearly always need a lot of trimming - the steering rack ones are impossible to fit and the front upper rear arm bushes are ridiculously thick....
