bortaf 94 Posted October 17, 2011 whenever i've offered money for all the unwanted trim/gl.ass etc to racers they aren't interested???? Your talking to the wromge ones Craig lol, keep an eye on oval chat  Though TBH they are so hard to find now i've had to start selling mondeo bits :shocking: spent the last 10 years buying stuff off racers and selling it on here, funny how people love them when they are getting cheep parts  As Dale rightly says everryone moans but no-one puts their hands in thier pockets, sold many a cortina for racing over the last decade i've also saved more cortinas than many on here have even seen let aloan owned :icecream: mainly using the bits left from cars i've sold to racers. I'd also like to point out that the amount of failed rebuilds that get sold off in such a state that all they are good for is racing is ni on as high as the amount of good ones that get raced, no-one blames the owners who mess a perfectly good car up with crap mods and unfinished repairs  no then it's "oh what a shame, somone should save that, not me too far way, wtrong time of year, if i only had the money" ect ect ect And then of course there the profit, how many peeps buy a cortina then a year later sell it on for more cos it's got rarer during that time, next time somone makes a profit they should donate some of it to a banger memorial fund cos thats why they get rarer cos they get raced, there's a few on here do that and have been for years and still love to moan about racers. Ah enough of my ramblings, not directed at anyone in particular (unless you recognise those examples as being you in which case yes i ment you) just my thoughts that i post evry time this subject gets bought up  sorry if i offended anyone not intended just cant be botherd to spend 3 hours making it all politicly correct

Would have took £500 for the silver super as a rolling shell and someone had stripped it in the 90s for its mint interior and other low mileage parts - sold just the inner wings of it for £300. :playball:
yellow_xl 0 Posted October 17, 2011 If you need more proof then 'RETRO FORD' magazine issue 67 did a 5-6 page write up on this with opinions from both sides, albeit on mk2 granadas but the same principals apply. I started racing bangers when i was 16 and stopped for a break in july 2010, i think i must have raced well over 40 cars, mainly vauxhalls but also newer fords, nissans, metro's etc etc. I was watching granada's, cortina's and all nowaday great classics getting raced during the 90's whilst i was growing up, week in week out i saw our beloved fords demolished to nothing. Growing up i said to my dad i would always like to race a mk3 but 4 years later i ended up owning the one i'm repairing now and i still go and watch virtually every week. Most race meetings nowadays use nothing but mondeo's and there's only certain meetings during the year that people will use classics so it's not as though they're being used every week but like it has been said, if people can't stump up the cash to save them but the racers can pay to race them then there's not a lot that can be done, believe me i have my dream cortina garage planned and pictured ready in my head for when i win the lottery :D

brightorangeGT 1 Posted October 22, 2011 I think people who go banger racing do it just to bash into and get their own back on the one who bashed into them the previous week. Its not racing at all. If the cars were actually raced, as in racing to compete - to win - then fine, Ive got a mk3 and a mk5 he could have, but because I know what he'll do with em - I'll keep them - so people like him cant get his hands on them.
