engine and gearbox swap?

right i think im gona go for the swap. my mk2 1600 crossflow with 2000e gearbox. for the 2 lt pinto with the 5 speed type 9 box.. what will i need to buy to make the whole lot go together? prop? engine mounts? gbox mounts? clutch cable or hydraulic? etc etc.. the lot. its a late mk2 so i believe that means the tunnel is big enough for the type 9 without cutting?? cheers. dan.

I done this on my corsair.

The corsair and cortina mk2 have literally the same floor, apart from the corsair having a 4inch extension under the rear seats.

I kept the original steering box and cut my sump and welded it into a front bowl.

I put the engine in together with the type 9 gearbox and mocked up the engine mounts with card and made them with steel tubing.

The mount kit can be bought off of ebay for about £50, but I was working on a real budget.

The original capri/sierra gearbox mount can be used, but new holes will need to be drilled and some spacers will need to be used.

A capri clutch cable and throttle cable and speedo can be used off a 2.0 litre car, where extensions/hooks need to be welded onto the tops of the pedals for fitting on the clutch and throttle.

The most expensive part of the conversion for me was the prop, which costed about £200!

I didn't touch my tunnel, as it was an automatic!

I think if your car's a super or an auto, I think they have bigger tunnels, but find out from a more reliable source as I'm more into corsairs :D :P
