mondeo wheels on mk5

Recommended Posts

If I were to fit a set of mondeo wheels on to my four speed 2.0 Ltr Mk5 cortina would that raise the gearing to make motorway driving a bit smoother and relaxed. Im not fussed about originality......Thanks

As Bortaf says, it's not the size of the wheel that dictates the gearing, but the size of the tyre. You'd have to to increase the diameter a fair bit to pull the revs down as much as you want though, and or course the speedo would still be reading the same for a given engine speed, meaning it would not be indicating road speed anymore.

Oh I see - you understood what I was going on about - thanks. I wouldnt attempt to fit tyres that would gear it to equal what a 5 speed box would produce just something to drop the revs a bit.....Cheers for the replies!
