looks lovely that  remember seeing it at the yat..

brown looks cack on most cars but is blob on with a mk4,really suits it

deffo much better with the sports steels on it

Yes, I thought the same about the steels, even when I had that first set of alloys on it, I kept the original wheels, it's like I knew I would be putting them back on. I even had a set of 6x13 superlites on it at one time, cost a fortune they did but it didn't look right, they seemed to stick out too much, perhaps I had the wrong offset who knows. I love Superlites but the steels won in the end especially after a re paint

Your right Allan about the 4's and 5's being thin on the ground, I think there's a few mk5's about especially at shows but never many mk4's.Very often I'm the odd one out! A bit like the mk2 Capri really they seem a bit scarce compared to the other mk's.

This is one of the nicest mk4's about :winner:

I seem to remember seeing every time i've been to the yat, the number plate sticks in my mind because the one i got from dale was DLE 667T.

Personally i dont think there's anything wrong with lowered on Capri alloys, having said that i've considered putting sports steels back on mine a few times.

Thankyou for the nice comment,

I remember DLE 667T, Used to be blue I think but now it's red with a black bonnet ?

Sorry mate, I didn't mean any offence when I said I saw the error of my ways with the Capri alloys, I used to have the same wheels on my Electric blue Mk4 that was lowered and I loved them, didn't want any other style of wheel on that, I just meant they weren't right for my Roman Bronze Mk4. I noticed your Mk5 has the 4 spokes with a lowering job, Looks good mate

Here's my old one, Sadly no longer with us

I managed to get a few photo's of the interior today. Some I used the flash and others not as the light wasn't very good this morning.

Note, the wrong kick panels, If anybody's got a darker set they want to sell ?

Sadly the plastic trim is broken around the base of the front seats, As I remember the drivers side was broken when I got the car 13 years ago but the passenger side has also broken now.

Usually the seat wears here where you get in and out of the car but this one is ok, I've always used seat covers and I remove them when I'm at a show.

It's off to have a bit of welding done on friday on the offside Chassis leg at the front, I want it done right so a chap who knows what he is doing is welding it, I've seen his work and it's outstanding, He takes his time and does the job right, It won't be cheap though!

I've also asked him about replacing the front valance, middle section and inner lower panel, I've got all the panels including a proper Mk4 valance and I'm Itching to get rid of the Mk5 item that's on there now, plus it's rusty and looks tatty and they just don't look right on the Mk4.

Then it's MOT time a week on saturday

I had the welding done to the chassis leg, He's made a fine job of it, I just need to finish it off as it's only in primer. Took it for MOT today, Passed, No problems. The CO level surprised me, 2.50 it was so well within the 4.50 limit. I usually have to adjust it but it was fine this year :headscratch:

Hi Matt,

Great news about the MOT.

If you find replacements for the front kick panels, I would be interested in the ones you have there. I'm looking for a pair of mint panels in the lighter tan colour. On the ones that I have the vinyl that goes under the door seal have torn.

All the best.

Stephen

thats the best mk 4 cortina i ve seen !!!

Cheers mate. I am working on getting a few of the jobs done it that let it down so to speak But, Where do I start ?

Stephen, Is that the colour of your trim then, the lighter Tan ? I hadn't realised that there were two shades, I kept those panels from an S reg Ghia I broke up around 12 years ago, I had the whole interior up until about 4 years ago when I sold it all but I kept those panels and the inner sill trims (I think :headscratch:) But when I went to fit them to the car the colour was nothing like it.

I've still got the originals but the passenger side has got water damage Thanks to my leaking windscreen...Now sorted.

Matt,

I took a lot of stuff off an Oyster Gold 1979 Mark4 1.6L Estate that I bought mainly for the front suspension (the car was in poor condition - but still better than my own Mark 4 was!. The interior was Tan, but things like the kick panels and the plastics around the front seats were a couple of shades darker than the ones in my car.

From the Estate, the kick panels one had "rodent" damage and I think the better side one in the darker Tan is the nearside one. I need to make sure that I have all the seat plastics, but if I have any spares perhaps we could do a swap?

I now almost three sets of seats from GLs in Tan. Two sets (my car's original plus an interior from an S reg Mark 4 I saw for sale in Practical Classics) match but the vinyl on some other seats I got from a Taxi firm in Monmouth around 1993 (who used to use Cortinas) is a darker vinyl - but unfortunately the seat plastics were missing.

Same applies to the dashboards, noticed (mainly on the GLs) that the dashboard "wood" seems very darker on the later cars compared compared to earlier cars. Have three dashboards to compare to.

I'd be interested in swapping the kick panels for a correct coloured nearside panel for mine. If I could have got a replacement elsewhere you'd be welcome to these anyway Stephen

I know what you mean about the wooden dash panels being different, My S reg were a lighter shade than my T reg I've got now which is darker and I think the Ghia badge on the glovebox was slightly different also.

I'll find out my original panels and get a photo of the two together so we can see the difference.
