My Latest - MK3 GXL 71 Model

Recommended Posts

It's quite new to me. I have a modern, but old-looking radio with SD card built in. I'm really undecided on speakers - they would spoil the rally look. We can pipe the stereo output into the intercom headsets, or I could hide the speakers somewhere. :headscratch:

How about modifying some of the small fire extinguishers Jayne?? mounted on both rear quarters.

Good suggestions guys.

I was thinking to make some custom 'door' cards for the rear with a first aid ducket, I could add door speakers to those I suppose :headscratch:

Pete - are you using just the 1 dash speaker and the roof tweeters?

using a specialist dual coil centre dash speaker, so just one speaker in centre of normal dash mount plus 2 headline mount tweeters ya!

Jayne! If you search for active underseat subs you'll find pre-amped subs which will fit under the seat rails. Under seat style small subs (8 inch and smaller) have come a long way in recent years but as bass is more non directional than treble under the seats is the ideal placement (woofers up the chuffers springs to mind) but in all fairness if you are not looking to make your eye balls wobble with the bass then a discreet under seat sub will deliver all those low tones that normally make a component speaker fart and give you a a more rounded sound while keeping your interior looking minimal. Some underseat subs allow you to connect via the speaker cable rather than an RCA pre-out which is useful if your stereo doesn't have this feature.

I'll have a look, but I have the 5th harness point through the bottom of the seat. It's worth looking at though.

modified the Hamburg panel illumination from a dull green to a brighter blue/white combo. the sound on this unit is perfect for me.

I Like the blue Pete  even better its a blue car.

Hi Mr Cortina-City. Do you think it would be possible to do the radio conversion on the later model Ford radio (the late 80s/90s spec ie any ideas about what way you could do the switches internally

Regards Kenny
