frankie2.8 13 Posted December 4, 2011 Hi guys, Had an incident today bringing my son home from football. Started coughing and then blacked out, Car mounted the Kerb and whacked a heavy wooden fence post. Thankfully nobody was hurt, no other cars damaged except mine. lucky for all the speed the traffic was going was slow. Spent the best part of the day in hospital being checked out and they came to the conclusion after many tests, that it was the coughing that started it all. They did have a name for it but I cannot remember what it was. All I remember is driving along the A32 from fareham, had a cough, then being asked if I was ok by the driver behind me!!! My son callum was fantastic and gave information to both the paramedics and the police in a very grown up way. Going to have alook at the car at the recovery place in the morning to see whats what, so I can think about rebuilding. From the quick glipse I had of the car while being taken to the ambulance, its going to need bonnet, slam panel, lower front panel, centre front panel and passenger wing, headlight, indicator and front bumper. I shall of course post picture when I can as well as a wish list for you guys to see if you want to sell me some bits. That is of course if the car is fixable. I am totally gutted!!! Loved that car and i hope I can get it fixed. Frankie
Nashy 4 Posted December 4, 2011 Hi Frankie, Most importantly You, Callum & nobody else were hurt. I hope the Cortina isn't too bad & is re-buildable & if I can help with any parts just let me know ... I would come and help with the work but I'm a bit far away. You will have to get Callum a special present now for Christmas for doing so well with the Paramedics & the Police. Take things easy for a bit. Aaron & Family.

I think the shock of it all hit him tonight as he phoned me to see if I was ok and just fell to bits!! Had a good chat with him, so did Maria and his mother is supportive so he should be ok. just a shame he does not live with me. :tears: :tears: Maria spoke to work while I was in hospital and sorted that out so I have tomorrow off to get the car from the recovery people and see what can be done with it. I have repaired worse damage from what I did see of the Cortina (Fixed one that hit a truck years ago) so hopefully It should be ok. On the bright side, I can at least get it proper sorted out before returning it to the road next year (fingers crossed) Should be a good rebuild thread on here anyway. Again thanks for the words Aaron and give my best to Sam and the family. Frankie

FKLGLS 44 Posted December 5, 2011 I hope you are ok Frankie and well done to Callum, what a star. Let me know what you need in the way of bits, I'm sure I have a few bits you have to get you back on the road. Dave. Btw, you abked a while back about the FR32 cam and what difference it made - quite a bit tbh ! I had it on the rolling road and it put 100 out at the back wheels, not bad for an old banger. Cortinapaul has been out in it and we both agreed that it is a fair bit livelier than standard. A worthwhile mod I reckon mate.
CortinaCat 1 Posted December 5, 2011 Blimey a lucky escape there Frankie. Good work by your lad too. Havent got a bonnet but have alot of parts like wings and doors etc most of them painted red over silver from use on JFE. They're not too bad and certainly would be a good stop gap for your car while you source mint examples if thats the direction you're going in. Sounds like the car did her job and stayed strong for you when you needed her too. Stay safe fella.

frankie2.8 13 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) Got the car back today, Happily it drives straight and true. On a quick investigation, the chassis looks ok and not bent. just seems like panel damage.(I have repaired worse) Took some pictures so here they are. :tears: :tears: :tears: :tears: :tears: Picked up a new daily runner to potter around in today untill the cortina is ready so i will be back on the road when thats taxed. Its a mondeo but shall call it the MK6! At least I shall be able to collect some parts for the Crusader. May have to Buy one of those wings off you Steve, How much would you be wanting for one? Dont suppose you have a bumper too? and where about are you? Thanks for all the offers guys. I will let you know what I need when i get it in the garage over the week end and start to stripdown. First off, Callum, Boys of the day!! Frankie Edited December 5, 2011 by frankie2.
