Sorry to see this thread Frankie

I've got a few panels in red over silver paint work if you are struggling bud

Can't you get it done in a Bodyshop using your fully comprehensive insurance and agreed valuation?

It's nearly done Steve, was going to be prepping for paint in the next few days as all the damage has been repaired. If I worked it our hour wise it did not take too long. However, the engine problem has put that back for a bit. So we shall see how it goes. Plus the fact I have been enjoying fixing it myself. Feels like I have achieved something if you know what I mean. Thanks for the offer of the panels though. Much appreciated.

I had a similar thing happen to me driving a 44 tonner, but I coughed so much that I went temperarily blind....at 56MPH!.....didn't know whether to brake or what so when I heard the rumble strip I thought I'd just lift off and steer along the line....took about 20 secs for my sight to come back.....and for me to find out I was on the rumble strip beside the central reserve!!!!! I'd crossed three lanes of traffic while I was blind.....scariest thing I ever went through, docs think that i coughed so long I wasn't taking enough oxygen and my brain was temperarily staved of it causing the blindness.

Rebuild is going well mate, keep it up.

And now the latest piece of information regarding my Cortina,

The engine has decided to let go............Bugger!!!

clank clank clank, squeak squeak squeak, dumps oil everywhere out the front of the engine........Bugger!!!

We are not amused at all!

looks like the 1600 is going back in on top of everything else I have to do.

Hey ho though, never mind.

Frankie

Did you ever get a chance to find out what happened to your (2 litre I think) engine? Assume from what you've said about going 1600 it's terminal?

Nowt bust that can't be re built. Use the 16 for now while you fix up the 2L.. they dont take long to swap over.

Further investigations will be happening with the 2.0, hopefully it can be repaired. To me it does sound rather buggered but my engineer friend wants to pull it apart and he's not one to be beaten by a pinto. Determined sod he is!!

The 1600 is a bloody good one, already converted to unleaded and pulled like train!
