Recommended Posts

thats sun bleached red paint is the must suseptable to this prob.

No it's the original colour. The cars I refer to were the same and only a few years old. That paint colour exists, sorry I don't know the correct name for it.

I'm going to try to find a photo of my first car - MK5 1.6 LS in signal red. I saw just 1 or 2 about in signal red that were GLS but dont think I ever saw an exact match to mine. I have heard it described as salmon pink but all my mates called my car nipple pink which I was kind of proud of

Here's a few "salmon pink" fords

both started out as signal red

signal red 80 was the worst of the bunch so 80/81 cars, it was very UV unstable ask any Rs owner with a V/W/X reg RS2000 in signal :D

then later cardinal red sufferd the same problem on sierras and a few VW shades as well into the late 80's

funny enough what bought me back here was a mate whos dad just bough a fender guitar in salmon pink, that started life as fiesta red a ford colour from the 60's.

sorry but salmon pink is a myth and allways was back into the mid 80's by which time ford had changed the paint to a UV stable one, well a slightly more UV stable one anyway

I'm sure there are cars out there actually in salmon pink but ford never intended it to be that way in the 80s.

Red is an unstable colour i even know rose growers that complain thier roses fade after a few weeks into pink then white so it's not just a paint problem but something to do with the red pigment and UV light.

There was never a ford colour called salmon pink, the colour you are talking about is defentally signal red 80...ive got afew friends with mk2 rs2000s in this colour..another quite later ford retro colour i believe, certainly like most red cars they dont like the sun,so fade slightly "although signal red 80" always looked slightly pink when leaving the factory....
