Mk1 1500 GT engine/gearbox colour

What colour should the engine block, gearbox and head be? I intend to paint mine and would like the original colours if possible..

 

Although might be easier to keep clean if it's all done black!

block, head, gearbox should be all dark green, smoothrite dark green is a close match to the original colour, thats what i used on my mk1 GT. :thumbup:

I think every block and gearbox that has been repainted since 1964 was painted black but occasionaly a car that has been stood up for decades will turn up with the original green paint on , no idea when Ford started painting them black in the factory though :headscratch:

my GT is a July 65 car & still had traces of the original green paint on the engine & gearbox

Nah as soon as the supplier offered black cheaper knowing Ford :rofl:

My car is an urestored 66 car Green on the engine block,I think Frost offer the engine paint.
