EFI kit fitted to pinto engine in my Mk1 estate

Recommended Posts

Well I have finally finished fitting the efi kit to the pinto in my mk1 estate, the car was fitted with a injection (205) pinto when I got it from Dave but on a 32/36 twin choke webber carb so I sourced all the efi stuff to fit back on. I did a efi pinto conversion on a anglia many moons ago and it was a awesome car to drive and go and had this planned for the Cortina from the start.

Also fitted and wired the GT clocks and pod, just need to re-paint all the dash next.

The efi conversion took me a little longer than I had planned as I ended up sorting lots of other little niggles while various parts were removed.

Drove her for first time since completing efi install and have to say she goes a lot better than before and is much smoother.

Heres some pics.

Cheers guys

I'm hoping for more MPG as its a bit of a daily driver. The efi pinto I had in a anglia a few years back would return a easy 55MPG on a run.

38 mpg regularly from mine. As a matter of interest you can get rid of that convoluted factory intake pipe and replace with house rainwater down pipe, just warm up the end with a hot air gun and push firmly onto pleneum, as you already have a short rubber pipe to the airflow meter this should give enough flex any bends can be done with same elbows and plastic welded together. My engine is 2.1 with no fan and a performance air filter and was rolling roaded at 128bhp which is quite adequate. Paul

I've started on it Dave, made new door cards, just need to cover them and I've started painting all the dash and other interior metalwork. Still looking for a front parcel shelf to finish it off. Had a powerflow stainless exhaust system madeup for it yesterday too. Sounds well nice now.

Hi, I know this is a long shot as this thread is so old but just in case you are out there still. I am about to do this conversion on my mk1. I’m getting ready to offer in the pinto and type 9. Do you have any tips on this or maybe old photos of where to cut the tunnel for the box? That is assuming you are using a type 9. I’ve got the same efi setup on the pinto ready. Thank you

I think I've still got the diagram once you've plugged everything back in you need I think it's half dozen wires.

I replied to your other thread (This one) with a link to a good diagram showing the wiring connections
