John Mack 341 Posted June 14, 2012 I bought my Mk5 at the turn of the year, then sold my Escort Mk2 rolling shell.........and not regretting it one little bit :thumbup: The interior was pretty grubby when I got it as it had been getting stored in a workshop, I don't think anybody cared too much about how dirty their overalls were whenever they jumped in to move it. It cleaned up well though. Bodywork wise, the rear panel below the bumper had been stonechipped black. Looked pretty bad so painted this myself with cans, looks ok for just now. The quarter panels are a slightly different shade but again I can live with it. Engine.....now looking a bit smarter although the 4-branch rubs the steering column when you give it the beans :( Didn't have the spot-lights on it when I bought it but I think it looks better for them. Got a set of fog-lights to fit as well, and a boot spoiler B) It's got a 5-speed fitted but 5th gear has a wee bit of a whine, am I right in saying a lot do this because of poor lubrication?? And the gear stick is like a wand in bucket of sand.....might get a 4-speed back in at some point, maybe. Just got an electric ignition kit of e-bay so going to fit that next. It's seen a bit of love before I bought it; front suspension has been powder-coated and under-bonnet/inner wings painted. As for the colour it wouldn't be my first choice but it carries it off quite well. Will put up some more pictures when I fit the fog-lights and spoiler. Cheers. :thumbup: John.
