I don't think so, economies of scale, if all manufacturers used polyurethane bushes they'd be cheaper.  It's probably more to do with them not being able to stand up to the tens of thousands of miles of constant use they'd get in a daily car/van, the average classic only does a couple of thousand miles each year if that.  Rubber is a fairly resilient hard wearing material.

The ones in the rear of my GT have about 40k on them of 3.2 V6 then 5.0V8 both manual Inc plenty of towing, racing,etc & are still like new.

I would disagree with you on that one. I changed literally dozens of top void bushes on my GT back in the 80's, then my motor factor sold me some solid rubber ones. Great I though, these will last for ages........ WRONG!

Out for a quick spin to check the new (to me) H&H electronic distributer was working as it should, seems to be ok...….took the hounds, they gave the dizzy their approval.
