Duke Blues 15 Posted July 24, 2012 You'll need a water trap in the air line as condensation will spoil it too I got a water/oil trap a few weeks ago aero. My problem is that my compressor Is'nt big enough for the job. I'm guna ava word with the car sprayer I met at a BBQ the other week and see if I can sort something out with im. Preferably I would like to spray the car but if I can help him do it. Then that's enough for me.

He prepared it in his garage then bought a second hand marquee off ebid for £50. Set it up, rolled his car in and painted it. Clean, dry and light, all in 1 go. The more I look at it the more options I have. I'll have to find out what kind of constant pressure I need. I'm hoping to paint the bay next month. Fingers crossed. Graham. AERO_ADY 10 Posted July 24, 2012 I'de like to get the car painted by October as the weather is normally quite warm and dry in October. What I don't wan. Is for the car to go through winter with nothing more than primer on it. As long as I don't have any delays/problems preping the car then it should be done by then. The only question is...... Am I doing it or is it going to a spray shop. Decisions Decisions Decisions :headscratch:
Duke Blues 15 Posted July 24, 2012 Decisions Decisions Decisions :headscratch: Yes aero, Decisions decisions decisions. At the mo my car is painted in onix green. The original color was fern green. Onix is a nicer color. But fern is the original color. There are already 3/4 onix cars on the forum but I don't think I've seen a fern green car yet. What's to do :( The sands of time are flowing. A decision needs to be made.
canadian_Mk3 9 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) If you do it, dont use newspaper to mask off. It can throw off little pieces of lint that gets in the paint  Id rather not chance it, Im going to try parchment paper to mask off mine  Primer is rather easy to spray, my dad just started doing it with a cheap gun in a regular garage and a 1/2 horse 60 gal compressor. Primer gets blocked out anyways, Its the topcoat you want to worry about trash getting in. Oh and if you want another color go evergreen metallic  Nice color and theres like 3 or 4 on the forum in it (including mine) Edited July 24, 2012 by canadian_Mk3

That mk3 that got burned out looked great before it's baptism of fire. And I did consider painting mine in that color but with mine be 'ing a black interior I'm not sure it would look good. Tick tick tick Decision time is coming. Gulp :(
cortinapaul 7 Posted July 24, 2012 Car left the factory fern it will always be fern even if you change the colour it will be the fern green mk3 painted evergreen :icecream:
Duke Blues 15 Posted July 24, 2012 Ay youve not seen a fern green mk3 :headscratch: let me show you :icecream: Now I'm confused, My car looks to be the same color as yours, But under the paint and in hidden places like under the back parcel shelf. And some places in the boot it's a darker shade of met green which must be the original color. I thought yours must be onix. Decisions and confusion are do'in me ed in.
