Danish 294 Posted September 11, 2018 Go efi much better allround. It is tempting. Whether PAL is back on the road in November, January or April next year doesn't make much difference.
Captain Scarlet 84 Posted September 11, 2018 I'm an efi guy. Why people stick with carbs i don't know why. Oops i'm a poet. And i don't realise that i am supposed to finish this last line with a word that also rhymes with the last line "innit" ;)
Danish 294 Posted September 11, 2018 I'm at a point where I either need to buy a second DCOE or go EFI, so the perfect time to change over. I'm not sure whether to go with DCIE style throttle bodies or adapt something from a motorbike.
Pete-H 66 Posted September 11, 2018 Jayne you may find this interesting and give you some ideas and or inspiration?
sheffieldcortinacentre 523 Posted September 11, 2018 Flexibility/driveability is something I like with Efi not so much the peak power improvement as how often do you get peak power.
Danish 294 Posted September 11, 2018 Jayne you may find this interesting and give you some ideas and or inspiration? I rather enjoyed that. Definitely some good ideas, like bolting the coil packs to the side of the rocker cover. Flexibility/driveability is something I like with Efi not so much the peak power improvement as how often do you get peak power. Very true, other than pootling down the strip and at the rolling road PAL's never at full power. Often at WOT, but never full power.
chris mk3 313 Posted September 12, 2018 .....you ve been busy Jayne, i hear EFI is a brilliant smooth power delivery.
Danish 294 Posted September 12, 2018 I think it's the way to go, especially while the engine is out so I can fit timing wheels etc.
Danish 294 Posted September 12, 2018 ... and speaking of timing wheels: A pair of DOHC pulleys: A timing wheel I had lying around in my spares box. This fits very nicely on the lip turned by Ford at the factory, so a definite possibility. Probably best fitted by weld, which isn't known for being 'adjustable' later. The timing wheel borrowed from the twin pulley from Turbosport. This would need me to drill the pulley and bolt it on with some spacers. All possible and would be adjustable. sheffieldcortinacentre 523 Posted September 12, 2018 2nd would be better as you say would allow some fine tuning.
Danish 294 Posted September 13, 2018 (edited) I've had a generous offer to help get a custom trigger wheel laser cut, so I spent some time tonight doing some CAD work: Edited September 13, 2018 by Danish

Danish 294 Posted September 14, 2018 Wow...even using CAD is so alien to me!! My drawing looks like a child's scribble compared to the drawing Pete-H has done for me. I'll share it once it's complete and get go-ahead to post it. I've a cad bracket to sort over the weekend Cardboard Aided Design. :)
