I agree with the above posts, I have enjoyed following this thread and found it really interesting, the work you have done is great. It is a shame there are not many posts on here anymore.

The trouble with this so called discussion forum is you can't have a discussion anymore without someone jumping down on top of you and getting all upset because you said something they don't agree with.  As for technical input, there's only a handful of people with any real knowledge and experience worth listening to.  I've been in two minds whether to start a thread on work I'm doing on my own cars right now but some recent events have dictated that that won't be happening.  I've absolutely no time for Muppet Book (did we really used to have the best education system in the world?) but sadly the days of this forum appear to be numbered because of it.

Maybe just do a batch post update every so often rather than quit the thread for folk who're not on FB. Annoyingly photo sharing has hit forums hard.

A lot of folk who've posted support on this thread over the years have also jumped in the car to lend a hand to Jayne or helped with parts. Thats the way the scene should be.

There is a lot of expertise on here and on MK3OC forum, many of those folk are also on FB, or decided to quit forums to just be on FB due to whatever reason.

If I could change one thing about my car it would be to have a couple of classic car mates within a couple of miles so we could hang out at each other's garages. My resto thread kind of fills that gap, but only when there's feedback to keep my mojo going. The days of putting up a post and getting 6 or 8 replies are long gone, and at times I'm posting and the last two or three posts are mine.

Rich - good idea, I could do that, don't want to cut off people who'll otherwise not see any updates. Especially as I think Dave.com said you can paste links from Facebook-hosted images... and yes, you can!

Mike's DOHC pulley drilled and tapped and the trigger wheel Pete-H made for me fitted:

I am guilty of not posting many comments as I enjoy reading the updates and following progress but do not often have much to contribute. I do understand though that comments can help when you take the time to post the pictures and type updates. I am fairly sure I am not alone though in being impressed with your work and looking forward to the updates on your workshop as well as your car.

You just have to try & filter it out mate, same as the other crap on FB. I know its frustrating when you've been around the block a few times but there are guys on there like yourself who know what's what.

I know resistance is futile & I will be assimilated,  but I'll keep fighting.

Nice work there but I have a question: Is there much room behind the pulley ? I dont like button heads because they have a smaller hex than the same size cap head and are VERY easy to round off. If you have room for hex head bolt (and decent washer) I would use one. It may give you the chance to tweak the trigger wheel in situ too. :)

I, like others are watching but not saying much but do appreciate the effort going into the build and the pics and info take a lot of time to compile. Carry on :)

I don't use the forum as much as I used to. I guess it's a case of use it or lose it. Must try harder 🙂 nice work btw J 👍

There's oodles of space behind the pulley. In fact I may take another 5mm off the back to push it further back. But yes, hex bolts would be better, will look at that.

Next Friday my old web hosting contract lapses, and it's too expensive to renew. Sorry in advance, all the photos in this thread are going to disappear.  :(
