jordan98 9 Posted October 2, 2012 As I turned the page of Classic Ford magazine this is what hit me smack bang in the face :shocking: I have never seen anythng like it before - it was a 2 door cortina looking at me, next I am saying I want one ,but in asking around found out Ford never made one :( So I began asking about if anyone had made one? Nothing came up at all, I was on to a winner I hope??? There was just one thing stopping me: I'm not that good at welding so I decided not to pursue it anymore; well that was until I got talking to the man working on cortina paul estate. So it went like this; as I was asking him how it was going one thing led to another and he commented about how good it would look as a 2 door. A 2 door I said I was thinking of doing that to a Cortina mk2 estate and I showed him this picture, after chatting for over an hour we said lets go for!!! Now I just need to find an estate, within a week or two I had found my estate and started to strip it down to a bare shell, This is how it look when i got it :(

Danish 294 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) This looks like its going to be a very interesting project thread... Have you contacted "Classic Ford" ? They might like to run a feature on someone being inspired by their Inspiration article. Edited October 3, 2012 by jayney
Captin Crayford 2 Posted October 3, 2012 Hi All I nearly did the 2 door swap on my Wagon back in 2007. Had all the body parts but couldn't get anybody at the time that would make me the body glass  So i ended up staying with the 4 door look for now anyway..Good luck with your swap be good to see one done with proper 2 door doors.

mk2 addict 7 Posted October 4, 2012 THIS WAS ADVERTISED ON EBAY as " does not need any welding " :smashcomp: Seriously :o It is annoying when people list things wrong so you bid acordingly and rnd up dissapointed. I got a mint as new door off ebay, looked great till i got it on the car and needed to adjust the gaps (welding) cleaning off the paint showed up pin prik rust holes :( welded them up but i dont like welded up doors Any way, awesome project, one i fancied doing but too many projects
Jason 5 Posted October 4, 2012 I have been told about another Mk2 2 door estate being built. This was back in May ( when I bought my own Mk2 ) I was sworn to secrecy. All I will say is apparently it's been made for someone by someone else well known in Classic Ford circles who's a dab hand with a welder. Jason.
