cortinaboy 0 Posted November 24, 2012 Thanks again everyone for the comments, been a while since ive updated this! Right, ive got the rear axle fitted up and back on I had the propshaft refurbed, it needed 2 new knuckles and the centre bearing replacing. Aparantly someone has had it apart before, replaced half the bearing and hammered it back together the wrong way round! So its now been re-welded and put back together the right way round. Then i painted it and fitted it today The next job is to replace all the bushes on the front end, including the crossmember bushes and engine mounts. So ive started by taking the engine out Im going to concentrate on just the suspension/running gear for now, and give the engine a clean for now. I reckon il repaint the bay and mabe strip and rebuild the engine next winter, as i only get to work on the car 1 day a week! Thanks for looking

The state of the old bushes A few bits painted And starting to build it back up again, with a new steering rack and balljoints Ive also painted and rebuilt the hubs with new bearings and discs, but forgot my camera! Just waiting on new callipers from Burtons now and thats the front sorted, then on to the Master Cylinder and Servo refurb. Thanks for looking
johnb 1 Posted January 30, 2013 Looking great, well done. Takes me back a month or two looking at that pic. Reminds me of what I had to do to compress the springs when the compression kit I borrowed was too short to reach top and bottom. The weight of my Ford Focus was useful. cortinaboy 0 Posted March 29, 2013 Johnb thats a good trick, il remember that one! I keep forgetting to update this, but iv done a few more bits to it... New brakelines made Discs, calipers etc fitted up Servo refurbed and fitted The engines back in now, im going back up the yard today to finish bleeding the brakes, and get the engine running. After that its just the tracking and caster angles to do then its ready for the mot...

cortinaboy 0 Posted April 1, 2013 Thanks peeps! I got the engine running, it fired up straight away. Now when its running the engine hardly moves at all, the new engine mounts are doing their job! Ive taken it up and down the lane outside the workshop and everything feels tighter and more solid, but I was too busy listening out for things falling off, as ive had everything apart im going to be a bit paranoid for the first few journeys. One thing that's a bit annoying, the blower motor for the fan heater has stopped working. We checked that there was power to the plug, so then i tried the fan off my mates, and it worked. I put my fan back and it worked for the rest of the day. But its stopped working again today. I don't think its a dodgy plug, has this happened to anyone else? Im going to line the tracking up by eye to get it to the test centre, then I reckon it'll be MOT time. Anyway, this is how it looks at the moment Thanks for looking

johnb 1 Posted April 7, 2013 Excellent.......... Reminds me of my MK4 white S reg back in the day. I remember using white line marker spray to spray the bottoms of the door as an undercoat. It was such a good match I didn't even need to spray over it and rust never came through. What a car that was, hence the resto on one now. Happy days!
