danc001 0 Posted October 25, 2012 well, here she is. 2.8 v6 carb with welded diff, its my everyday car and ive owned it a month, seem to be getting around 28mpg if i take it easy, when you boot it the fuel gauge drops quicker than the speedo goes up haha! the red paint is going... for yellow paint the wheels are going... for rs four spokes the exhaust is going... for a tempory smaller tip atm, untill i find a set of twin pipes the grill is going.. for a standard one with 2 round spot lamps then hopefully a lower suspension and maybe a front bumper
wolfrace 116 Posted October 25, 2012 I saw this on ebay a while back, then on gumtree. It looks like a solid car + sounds like you've got some good plans for it.

yorkie_racer 5 Posted October 26, 2012 Thats my old car, I, with the help of some members on here and other forums, restored it from a wreck, converted it from 2.3 4 speed to 2.8 5 speed....I'm not however responsible for that hideous paint job. I hope you enjoy it, I loved that car, meant a lot to me as I used inheritance money to do the restoration....keep us updated with pics as you VASTLY improve the car.
colin14 0 Posted October 26, 2012 Bit dodgy as I had all the doors and glass with that reg stamped on the glass in a mk5 I recently had
yorkie_racer 5 Posted October 27, 2012 Yeah the....erm person I'll call him.... who bought the car off me stripped of all the good bits I'd fitted then sold the shell.
cortinadale 4 Posted October 27, 2012 28mpg lol
azcolin 4 Posted October 27, 2012 yeah, this car was a p.o.s when l bought it, l stripped it and gave it away after spending a lot of money on it, my old 1.6 was more reliable,
wolfrace 116 Posted October 27, 2012 28mpg lol Out of interest what should a 2.8i be getting if driven carefully in a tina? I saw that and figured at least it's not 18mpg like my land rover, and that is driving like a nun. I recently got 33mpg average from my 1.3 on a run down the M5 but it really wants another gear by 40mph!
yorkie_racer 5 Posted October 27, 2012 yeah, this car was a p.o.s when l bought it, l stripped it and gave it away after spending a lot of money on it, my old 1.6 was more reliable, How dare you???? I went all over the country and spent a fortune on this car and it never let me down once. You stripped all the new parts off it to make me money simple as, I spoke to someone who looked at the car for you and told you it simply needed a tune up. Maybe you were drunk at the time ....like you were when you turned up to pick the car up...and drive it from Scotland to Wales....a journey it made no problem. You yourself told me this. You know I really don't care any more if the admin decide to ban me over this but you have over stepped the mark again, you tried once before to drag my name through the mud by accusing me of giving a fake mot with the car, do you really think I would take my family including my very young daughter in a car that was dangerous or unmot'ed.... I let it lie last time, this time I will not..... YOU ARE A DRUNK AND A LIAR!
Steve 5 Posted October 27, 2012 looks ace when yorkie had it ? i would return it to original colour myself ?

danc001 0 Posted October 27, 2012 haha i must admit the boot floor needs attention, but everything else is solid. i wondered why the reg etched on the windows was different than the plates. does this mean azcolin is responsible for the paint job?? as for reliablity, i cant complain, always starts first time and runs spot on. drove it 200miles home when i bought it and it never missed a beat! danc001 0 Posted October 27, 2012 and yeah for the 28mpg. to and from work i use a dual carridgeway there and back. live just off it and work 12miles down bottom of it, i sit at around 50mph. if you boot it, you can watch the fuel gauge go down. i was expecting around 15mpg ish, but roughly sa 25-28mpg. just depends how carefully you drive it.
