Mini 1000/850cc engine and gear box wanted - Yorkshire area.

Hi,

 

Firstly this is not Cortina related, so admin feel free to remove if need be.

 

As well as running my cortina which is our 'practical sensible family car', my other little car is a 1974 mini clubman (love them or hate them) it is an automatic, and now has a box full of neutrals so the engine is only fit for the bin :-(

 

Knowing that most people here are into their cars i just wondered if anyone has or knows of a mini engine and manual gear box thats a runner and up far sale in or around the Yorkshire area ? This really is a last ditch attempt to save my other car, and struggling to justify keeping it, but really don't want it to die !

Hi just incase your not aware a Manual box won't fit on a auto engine and vice verser due to the fact the water channels see different if you are aware please just ignore this post but if you went I thought iy would save you some hastle as we done a swap in our Mini clubman estate 5 years go bbefore we sold it !!!

Thanks for that :-) i am aware of this, and know its not that straight forward, but i am on my third auto engine now and they all die so hopefully going to take the plunge and convert. Working engines seem to be thin on the ground at mo (apart from silly money)and a wife who has no love for the joys of classic motoring things aren't looking too bright. The compromise of keeping the Cortina was accepted but the Mini might be a classic to far as it has little benefit of being family car.

 

best not go overboard on the mini chat, don't want telling it's the wrong forum :-) (which it is!) LOL !
