mk2 lotus cortina on the island of wight

hi all i took the girlfriend away to the i o w at the wkend and i was driveing towards cowes in my mk2 cortina estate and a mk2 lotus was comming the other way it didnt have any bumpers and no hub caps looked like it was a fresh resto would of turned round and caught up with it but was in a hurry does any body know who owns it as the driver flashed his lights at me and gave a wave made me smile as its not often you see such a rare car out and about

You would notice if it was Graeme Farrar's Police car...(TOR 756H)....it stands out a bit!

 

 

i thought the police stuff could be magnetic?? :headscratch: as others do??

 

but should have read properly as it says no bumpers as well, so probably another one! :cheers:

I think that thye stripes and signage are magnetic Hans, but not sure about the light box on the roof. I think that the Police can get a little grumpy if you drive around with all the Police signs on, although I can't imagine that anybody would really think that a 40 year old Cortina was a real Police car! I'd love to try it out and see just how grumpy they got!!

Jim (littlenewt) is a local Copper & he says they've relaxed the rules now , so as long as the word 'Police' is struck through (with a piece of tape for example) they are not fussed. :thumbup: Mind you, it's the young kids that get worried as they don't know the difference between old & new squad cars - most of them can't read anyway.... :rolleyes:
