brightorangeGT 1 Posted September 21, 2014 ....that's one of the reasons I gave up Cortina ownership because of that sort of thing happening to my Cortina - sickening

stevewes 16 Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) ...not sure i want to plough more money into a car i rarely use do i just get rid? That's a question only you can answer. I thought about selling mine last year and am now really glad I didn't as I know I would have regretted it - even though it hasn't turned a wheel in two years as it has been undergoing a 'bit' of work which I originally thought I'd have finished in a couple of months :shocking: :shocking: But I found the love again this summer and have had a few happy weekends tinkering around and finishing it off. Hopefully it will be back on the road soon and ready to enjoy next summer; even then, it will be a car I 'rarely use' but when I do use it I enjoy it. I know it is upsetting when something like this happens but think hard before selling it. This is a really nice looking car and prices have been increasing lately so if you sell it and regret it then you may have to pay more to replace it with one that may not be as good. Also think about next summer when the sun is out and you feel like a drive out somewhere, it will not be the same in another car. There is nothing comparable to a Cortina in my opinion. Good luck whatever you decide but I hope you keep it

pab 0 Posted May 2, 2015 well its been a long time since i did anything about the cortina was at a low ebb last year and was seriously thinking about getting shot of it i re read my post and forgot to say thank you to the kind words of encouragement from everyone who replied so boyed by the good weather and the good lady its out of the garage and hopefully back on the road soon the damage to the front wasn't so bad (see earlier post) so i bent it all back sort of, its not perfect but it will do. every dent tells a story so a check over all the obvious stuff for the mot and all looks ok quick pic of the fleet so a message from rosie to all at bsc and i know its rusty and dusty but its mine

Lobby 105 Posted May 2, 2015 Cool bikes as well! What is the blue one on the left? The tank looks like a Guzzi but the V engine is in the standard orientation rather than the usual side to side :headscratch: By the way, my MK3 has been sat in my garage turning to dust for the last 15 years but is now in the middle of being restored, could never part with her so I'm please that you're persevering with yours :)
