Downstairs Dave 37 Posted October 6, 2013 jim clarks road car, a lotus cortina 550VAR had independant rear suspension probably what chapman would have put on all lotus cortinas had ford not put finantail/buisness constraints on first. im pretty sure it had the donut type drive shafts that the elan had. im sure keith and steve booker have pics off the suspension set up. I can imagine Chapman had plenty of arguments with the Ford management stroke accountants, but then again would we have had the famous Clark three legged poise? Many thanks chaps on all the remarks and pictures, I now know it can be done:thumbup:
Downstairs Dave 37 Posted October 12, 2013 Did a bit more this afternoon, managed to finish off the N/S inner arch and removed the spare wheel lower section ready for the new panel. Have also decided on a few other things, going to go for aluminium door skins and will also be using the Mazda ABS for the brakes, watch this space. Here are some pictures....
