Downstairs Dave 37 Posted March 24, 2014 Fuel tanks is out of the truck, its going in the Cortina. Spent the day building the new tank for the Chevy. its double the depth and has more baffles. Cortina is now in the Carcoon while I do a few bits and pieces on the truck, but I've got the week off so it shouldn't be too long before I'm back on the Cortina. Steve 5 Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) Spent the bank holiday on the car, thought I'd get the sill sorted before attaching the rear quarter. I shall be making a die press tool for the triangular shape, this bit has to look right, so will spend a few lunch hours at work with the die grinder. hopefully this tool will work in a vice. Watch this space Pmd about that tool Dave? Any updates ? Edited March 31, 2014 by Mk1Steve

Downstairs Dave 37 Posted April 5, 2014 Its now time to get the car in primer, so I need to finnish off the bodywork. Todays job was to get the rest of the paint stripped from the engine bay and front panel.. Going to use my soda blaster to get the odd bits of paint off from those hard to get to places, apart from the paint on the dash and few bits here and there stripping is done....

Downstairs Dave 37 Posted April 13, 2014 Another milestone today, shell is completely bare metal now, Working on the doors at work at the moment, then the next job is to rebuild the front wings, would be nice to have NOS ones but the price they go for these days you could buy a complete Mk1... Downstairs Dave 37 Posted April 14, 2014 lead loaded the N/S pillar join, here is the process: First job is to meticulously clean the metal for the tinning solder... Then to brush on the tinning solder.. Then heat up to melt the solder and wipe off with a mole skin... Then load on the lead... next job is to use the paddle to smooth out... Then using a body file to smooth it to shape... and a final sand down and its done... Next job is to sort out the front wing, all the repairs will also be lead loaded, watch this space..

Danish 294 Posted April 14, 2014 lead loaded the N/S pillar join, here is the process: Interesting. I have a lead-loading set and was going to do my C-post join, but it seemed difficult and I was thinking to wuss-out and use filler. I think I'll have to re-visit it now. The good thing about lead loading is if your not happy with it you can heat it up and start again, keep practising Jayne...
