Downstairs Dave 37 Posted June 4, 2014 Well I've done a deal with the Truck and took in part exchange a very late Anglia 105e and a nice big wedge (wife's got her eyes on it already) so I'm going to buy some parts for the Cortina, and do a Zetec conversion on the Anglia. It has fully modified suspension, (Full Alachi front and rear with 2.8 struts, rear discs and M16 callipers on the front, type 9 gearbox, the supercharged Crossflow has gone but its been replaced with a standard 1600 Crossflow, but it still has the Competition flywheel and clutch. So to get the job done quickly I'm going to get a black top Zetec and use Retro Ford conversion parts and bike carbs. As for the Cortina, I managed to get a full Roll Cage for £190, great result especially as its a bolt together type (ideal for painting) Has anyone had experience of the Owners Club aluminium door skins, as I want to order them before I go on holiday. feedback would be much appreciated..
63 woody 0 Posted June 5, 2014 Hi Dave,if your after a black top give Retroford Dave a ring.He put a brand new one in his mk1 cortina just to get it up and running for classic ford show.I know hes waiting for his hot motor to arrive back from the engine builders so the black top will be available once removed. You need to ask him wether his mounts etc will work with Alachi stuff as they were built off a Milton crossmember so you dont have to hack the bulkhead about. The steering setup he built using the Cortina legs and Escort rack seems to work a treat though he still needs to take it to John Websters for final alignment.Lovely Anglia but dont let it drag you away from the Cortina! Many thanks for the info, I will give him a ring tomorrow, would be good to get an engine already done, as I need to save as much time as possible. So don't worry the Anglia is going to be a quick turnaround. I will be booking the Cortina shell in at work that way I can get the shell painted, then its on the home strait...

63 woody 0 Posted June 22, 2014 Known Dave for 25 years so long before Retro Ford ever existed.Spoke to him last night and he said he had spoken to you.A craftsman knows a craftsman, you wont get any rubbish from him and i know hes impressed with what you have done to 2dr the Cortina.Theres a lot of bitching and whining that goes with the old ford scene but i think you only need to look at what hes done over the years to know what hes like. All the best, glad to be of help. Downstairs Dave 37 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Ordered the aluminium door skins yesterday, 10 day turnaround for delivery. So once the doors are done it's just the O/S wing to finish and it's then ready for paint Gonna start the Anglia engine bay this weekend, so it should be ready for the Zetec in the next couple of weeks. Exciting times! Edited June 25, 2014 by Downstairs Dave
Downstairs Dave 37 Posted August 11, 2014 Well its been a long time since I've posted on here but I finally finished putting the Zetec in the Anglia, total time 5 weeks and its now on the road and its also done its first show. Very happy with it, real flying machine, note the Boing 777 strut brace, this holds up the galley in the plane and makes a perfect strut brace. I would also like to thank Dave at Retro Ford, a true gent and very helpful, enjoyed spending the morning in his workshop, the ultimate Boys Toys Crèche  Bought a headlamp repair panel for the drivers side from Expressed as the one on the car was too far gone, mega expensive but better than trying to make one... Aluminium door skins have also arrived, very pleased with them.. Spending a bit of time finishing off the garage, installing insulation and lining with 12mm ply, this will not only keep the noise down but keep me nice and warm in the winter as I get the feeling this one coming up wont be as mild  Normal service should be resumed within the next couple of weeks..
