nogE 92 Posted September 5, 2013 I have just fitted a new set of mounts to the estate 1600.... the vibration in the car seems a little mad now..... thinking I may have fitted HD units...maybe 23s etc.... does anyone know what the differences where with these mounts from 1300-2300s ...the units I fitted are deffo thinker than ones that where in there...not a big deal swapping them back...if I could find them....rec the scrapman took them :thumbdown: so also looking for the correct ones.. 1600 pinto :thumbup: Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Yes Burtons list both 35mm and 50. They say the 50s are Capri ones. It turned out to be that the engine mounts are now being INCORRECTLY MADE (probably in China). The problem was, that (presumably) when the mounts were copied, they looked at an new old stock example, and probably concluded that the bolt ran straight through the rubber - it should not. The way the originals were produced was by having two seperate bolts, back-to-back, facing outwards through the rubber. This meant there's some 'give' - which their HAS to be on a PINTO engine - for it moves slightly from side to side when revving. You can get a decent pair of engine mounts from South Wales Propshafts http://www.southwalesprops.co.uk/ They should sort you out with a correct pair.
