escortmad79 40 Posted October 20, 2013 On my motorbikes I used a thing called alpha-dot which was a a sort of coded microdot that you covered the bike with, but I suppose that only works if someone bothers to check for them before using the part. :( http://www.crimepreventionproducts.co.uk/property-marking/permanent-uv-property-marking-pen Get one/two of them & mark your panels with a unique mark, signature, reg etc. Years ago someone had a rare classic motorbike stolen at the Great Dorset steam fair. The next day the owner was walking around the tradestands & picked an item up, put it down & moved onto the next stand, picked an item up & put it down again before walking away & returning a short while later with a policeman. He challenged the first stallholder & said that the item he was selling was off his bike which was stolen the night before! The stallholder told him to prove it was his so he lifted the item up, turned it over & showed him & the policeman a unique code which he had put on every single item of the bike when he restored it. The guy managed to get the majority of his bike back, spread out amongst 3 stands in a row! They were all friends & took the bike & stripped it down & divied up the haul between them! Luckily the owner was vigilant & knew his stuff
phorbiuz 38 Posted October 20, 2013 On my motorbikes I used a thing called alpha-dot I've got that too on mine. Not much good if they strip a panel to bare metal and prime it before selling though.
