I have never ever seen these lower trim pieces, anyone know which cars these where fitted to? DEFFO one for Hans or Craig this one, i feel they may have been on export cars? see the pic. also , my radio surround is square, the cut out for radio is square, like the modern radios, has my previous owner cut it out square, did it have the normal 2 holes and smaller rectangle or where they all the large oblong cut out? cant work it out how i mount the P21 radio. pics or replies on a postcard please. dockertrigger 2 Posted December 8, 2013 It sounds like your radio hole has been cut out, my facelift has the two small dial holes and the bigger one in the middle which takes this style of radio.

Never seen those lower panels before! I think there should be a bracket that fits in the radio hole that has the two spindle holes in it. Mine is also missing but I have seen the fitting kit for sale in the past.
ian27 1 Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) I thought they all large square/rectangular holes but have a special mounting plate that holds the radio and fills the gap.... Edited December 8, 2013 by ian27
consul315 180 Posted December 8, 2013 can t recall to have seen those before, Pete , though i must admit my knowledge on Mk3s is very thin. your Panels look like rhd to me. can t tell for my other 2 GXLs i have, but this one hasn t got it! :headscratch: http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/33355-my-new-mk3-gxl/page__view__findpost__p__297388

markymarkthree 178 Posted December 8, 2013 Pete, if you have "The complete history of the Cortina" book, check out pages 222 and 230, you will see those lower trims fitted to a GXL and an XL, they are also in the parts book and on the fiche.

sheffieldcortinacentre 747 Posted December 8, 2013 prob for very early ones (71), again sounds like radio part has been cut, it fits in a sort of tray that in turn fastens to a pair of brackets.
TIB3300 448 Posted December 9, 2013 ooowwww!!!!!!! thems nice mr  mine also has a oblong hole in the plastic . i think there should be a piece of metal behind it Pete .As the hole in middle is very neatly cut on mine almost like factory :juggle:
littlenewt2067 33 Posted December 9, 2013 there were recently some mk3 radio fitting kits on Ebay......
littlenewt2067 33 Posted December 9, 2013 As already mentioned, the square hole is in the facia part and you need the bracket to mount the radio..... As for the lower trim parts, I have seen a car with these fitted before. The "passenger" one is the same for LHD or RHD and the "drivers" part is sided. The parts book lists them for the XL only.....
