bortaf 93 Posted April 19, 2014 A mk5 is a very different car.............. To live with every day it is yes i agree there, better seats, better headroom, more window area, better handling ect clutch adjusters work just fine, i've changed a few but they don't go that often, it's just when they do they are a PITA :( Drive any car on a daily basis for long enough and all the little things add up, i personly prefer the Mk3 PFL for looks alone but as a daily i'd only drive a Mk5 because it's the most refined. Good to see a few S's coming out of the woodwork not cos they are all that but cos they are rare :)

Mitch 4 Posted April 19, 2014 Wow, I stand corrected, you never know just what's hiding away these days. If you don't do a deal I think there will be a queue of people on here ready to step in. The seller could just be testing the water though to find out how much his car is worth before putting it on the open market. It's definitely got Doctor Waffle of Ebay fame all over it, especially with the Zeibart treatment. The old chap realises he will never put the car back on the road, he starts it every month and runs it up to temp. Its sat in his garage for 22 years, all service history,Mot's/tax discs up until then. There is one or two marks on the car which if i buy it i will have to address, it has to be the best original S in the UK without doubt
V6Ghia 37 Posted April 20, 2014 I would find it difficult to negotiate a price for this as it would be hard not to look too excited. I would start at £2,000 and go up to £5,000 although as previously said it is probably worth a lot more to the right person. This is a fantastic opportunity with a good, interesting history. I wish I was offered a car like this, good luck and keep us updated.

dockertrigger 2 Posted April 20, 2014 i personly prefer the Mk3 PFL for looks alone but as a daily i'd only drive a Mk5 because it's the most refined. Funny you say that, I drove Conairmike's Mk5 1.6 Estate the other week and it felt so much nicer to drive than my Mk3, It was like a modern car in comparison! Beowulf 87 Posted April 22, 2014 Well the deal is done and i ma now heading down to pick up my new 2.0s, pics to follow tonight Congrats - looks a belter and a grand investment :) I too prefer the MKV and think even asthetically its just got cleaner lines somehow, both very different to me. Weird I know but just seems to be a more complete car.
